Birthday Cake Cards

Sharing a couple of birthday cake cards from a past issue of Papercraft Inspirations magazine - I can never show them, apart from a sneak peek, until well after that edition has been published, so these were in the June magazine last year......

Papers are by K & Co

and this one was cut with the Cricut, but I forget the cartridge.....

Running a blog is a bit like waiting for a bus, you wait forever, then two come along at once. I often have stuff that I can't show you - yet - then some days I have about three things that I must show you,  all on one day. Mind you, I don't know why I used a bus analogy, I haven't been on a bus for about twenty years. Maybe I should try one day, now that I have a bus pass, no wait, I don't have one of those either I thought I would never use it. It could be quite therapeutic riding on the top deck of a double decker, watching the world go by, maybe I should get one. I think they make you do difficult stuff like getting a passport photo taken to get a bus pass, so the chances of me doing that are close to zero. Either I would keep forgetting until I was halfway home, or I would remember, look in a mirror and decide that I was having a bad hair day. I mean, the urgency isn't there is it, not like when your passport runs out. You can't really compare a trip to Birmingham with the thought that you may miss that flight to America............

See you tomorrow x

  1. My Don rode the bus to work and back every day. Until he got sick. But I'm sure once he's well again he'll be doing it again. Here, in Charleston, the fare is $1.25. With the price of gas per gallon and the wear and tear on the car, I'm sure it's much less expensive. And he can tell stories (like your coffee runs)that are hilarious!Love the card, and why do you have to wait so long? I'd forget all about them! lol Hugs, Jess

  2. What a cute birthday card. Yummy! I rode the double decker buses in England, thoroughly enjoyed it as you are up so high and able to see everything.

  3. These cards are so yummy!!

I haven't used a bus in years, the service is so terrible that it's quicker to walk!!

  4. Bus pass or not I don't fancy standing out in the rain waiting for one (or three!) to come along. Love the cards, especially the birthday cake one. Pat x

  5. I used to ride the bus to work when I had a different position with my current employer. I enjoyed most of it--but not the waiting at the bus stop in inclement weather! I even made a few "bus buddy" friends who would bring family pics to share with me on our bus rides, etc. One even ended up inviting me to an event at her home!

  6. Both beautiful cards.
The price of bus fare makes me walk when I can!

  7. Beautiful cards Enfys. The first is like a happy rainbow of colours and the second is so soft and pretty - love them both.

For the last 6 months I have had to take the bus once or twice a week as it was the only means of public transport to one of our offices. It was a long journey of 2.5 hours each way and I was so looking forward to not having to do it any more but I have to say that I am missing seeing the Essex countryside gliding past. As a driver much of this is missed whilst concentrating on the road & traffic.

  8. Your cake cards are really great. I enjoyed riding in a double Decker bus in Scotland many years ago. I wouldn't ride a bus here in Georgia unless I had no choice.
    Take care,

  9. Great Birthday cards Enfys. I especially like the pink one. I'm not sure why ... could it be the sweet delicate and very "girlie" look of it? Or could it be that the thought of chocolate cake with pink icing just sounds so yummy? Either way, it's a beautiful card.

It's been ages since I last rode a bus too. I think the last time was when a group of us at work chartered a bus for a road trip to Las Vegas (I was working for a company in California at the time). I remember the ride there as full of merriment with lots of drinking, dancing, whooping, hollering, and crazy antics by all. I recall the ride back as being very quiet with most of us sleeping. I don't remember much about the time actually in Vegas ... apparently I didn't win anything in the casinos! But it was fun and I would do it again.
