Tutorial for Envelope Gift Card

Loads of you wanted to know how I made this envelope gift card..... I made another one very quickly taking photos of the various steps, I hope it is fairly simple......

Measure the envelopes you are going to use, and cut some double sided cardstock 1/2" wider (I forgot to do this, a fine example I give....) and double the height plus 2". I used 5" square envelopes, so cut the cardstock to 5" x 12" (should have been 5 1/2" wide).
score at 2", then at the halfway point, in my example at 5" - it doesn't have to be a square card, you can use a C6 or invitation sized card
Crease your folds with a bone folder
Cut a rectangle of pattern paper for the front (in this case 2" x 3"), round the corners and mark the center point about 3/4" down from the top
Punch a hole and insert an eyelet at the marked point and thread with about 2 feet of ribbon. With half the ribbon running down the back of the panel, fix to the bottom fold of your main card
Seal two, or three envelopes and cut to fit inside the card comfortably - I cut them down to 4"
Apply adhesive to the backs of two of the envelopes and stick another envelope on top, so you end up with a little stack of envelopes, make sure the cut side openings are all facing the same way
A poor photo showing the envelopes stuck together with the openings at the top
Put sticky tape as shown on the top and bottom folds of the main card
Stick the envelope stack to the top half, making sure the open edges are at the top, then bring up the bottom half and stick to the envelopes
I used some ready made tags for quickness, and cut a scrap of the pattern paper to make a gift card pocket for one of them
Thread the tags with ribbons, and insert into the pockets
Wrap the ribbon around and tie in a bow as shown - sorry about the photos, I made this at night and photographed as I went....
Decorate your panel and add a sentiment
Any questions? Leave them in a comment and I will answer them on this post

Linda asked if you can use just one envelope to take a gift card? Yes you could Linda, but the little pockets look cute, I would advise two - one for the gift card, and one with another tag to write your message. If you use three, make the gift card pocket for one, another for your greeting, and write or stamp a verse or sentiment on the third one - you can decorate the tags as much as you want as long as they stay fairly flat, otherwise the card would be too bulky when tied up

Envelope Gift Card Holder

Here's a cute idea. I have no idea who originally thought of this, I got the instructions from my craft group, and altered them until I got this.......
A pretty folder made from a single sheet of double sided paper...........

I decorated it with a cut out flower and a sissix die cut leaf..........
undo the ribbons.................
and on the inside you have pockets each holding a tag cut from the Tags Bags Boxes Cricut cartridge, I altered them in the Gypsy so that they were exactly the right size for the envelopes..............
the pockets are made from sealed envelopes that you cut down to size...........
I made a little pocket for one of the tags, which will hold the gift card. The other two tags will hold a sentiment and a hand written message
If enough of you want it, I can do a quick photo tutorial later in the week. Not today though, we are off to Anna Marie Island for a couple of days, to visit friends from the UK who are holidaying there, so a couple of craft free sandy days ahead. I'll be back on Wednesday.

Little gift bag and more blending colours....

This week on Polkadoodles challenge, Saskia, who is from Belgium, set the challenge, and of course she chose
Chocolate
So I made this little gift bag, cut from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cartridge at 6", it is just big enough to hold about 6 little choccie as a cheer up present for someone. The papers and tag are from the Back to Nature CD

and here's another example of favourite blending colours with my Promarkers - another Sugar Nellie stamp. I used Bazzill dotted cardstock called 'rope swing' (I love the names they give to their cardstock, it makes them sound so much more appealing than 'tan' or 'brown'
I used some wide raffia netting, and held it in place with a couple of buttons and the stamped panel

Promarkers used:
Pear green and Marsh Green
Sandstone, caramel and tan
Tree trunk cool grey 3, warm grey 4
leaves cinnamon, burnt umber, caramel
hair - vanilla and buttercup

Don't forget to get your Promarkers out and colour a card to win 24 promarkers - details below, and don't forget to link back to this site from your blog please, so that your visitors can see the details for themselves, and you can still win 36 promarkers - all the new blending sets, over on Letraset's blog

Peggy Loves Vintage - for Bitten By The Bug

This week the design team on BBTB were given a choice of vintage images from Peggy Loves Vintage to play with. I fell for this cute circus image and printed the main image three times, and decoupaged it. I printed it out smaller to make a tag, added a pompom to his hat, and some glaze to the balloons and added a handle to the inch bag from tags, bags, boxes and more, which was cut using the fit to page option on the expression. There is a contest to win these images over on BBTB this week, pop over and have a go
Now for the craziest thing...............I was chatting to someone who told me they had been invited to a wedding, not only do they have to fly from the East to West coast of the USA, pay for a hotel and of course a wedding gift, but also, wait for it, the bride has specified that all the guests should be dressed in lime or lemon colours (I think that applies only to the female guests) so that they look coordinated in her photos.
I was quite outraged by this, quite apart from the fact that I look like a sick canary in those colours, if I had been invited I think I would have dressed from head to foot in scarlet and claimed to be colour blind 'this gown isn't lime green? Oh my, I could have sworn it was.........................' Then I suppose I would have looked like a parrot in the photos. Whatever next.

Sweet Sixteen Card and Box (Blog candy contest still open, scroll down)

The design team were asked to use the popcorn box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. I cut it in pink and decided that with a matching card it would make a really sweet (pun intended) gift for a 16 year old. Just big enough to pop in a piece of jewellry. The lace is real, ribbon is American Crafts. The scallop on the card was cut with Plantin, and the ice cream cone was dotted with dew drops. The stamps are Studio G. Papers are DCWV baby girl nursery stack.
I went out shopping with Mike today - a rare enough event to be documented in history books. He needed some new shorts, the weather here is hotting up now. On the way back, after a delicious iced coffee, we went into a new super Walmart and I bought a sewing machine, just for using on cards and layouts. It is only a basic one, but has the added huge benefit of an automatic needle threader and bobbin winder. So all that squinting at needles and muttering about eye tests is a thing of the past - if I can ever decipher the instructions!

Teabag Card

This week's dare over on DCM was to make a card using a teabag. Here's mine, I cut the pocket out using the tag pocket cut on TTBM, the paper is scenic route double sided so I didn't have to faff around cutting it twice. Added an organza bow, the saying 'Let's get together' is a $1 stamp. The stones are by papermania. I ran the dark green strip through the cuttlebug, script folder. The base card is american craft, and is a lovely subtle sheen cardstock, which of course doesn't show up in the photo, neither does the teabag come to that, but it's there.

Have had more computer problems, this time the brand new one packed up and had to be taken back for a replacement. We couldn't download any of our stuff, so I've lost it all AGAIN, including some brand new downloads that I had only just bought last week from Pink Petticoat. My hippos have gone :(

This was another challenge for the BBTB site. I used the matchbox from Tags Bags Boxes and more cartridge and used the fit to page option on the expression to cut it as big as possible. It made a good sized box, which I filled with an assortment of cards, made a matching card and gave to a friend for a birthday gift.

The leaves are the branch cut from zooballoo and the flowers are from george
