Votive candle wraps....

I've been having fun with these candle wraps that I found in Hobbycraft....

Of course, I knew as soon as I saw them that they would not go near a candle in my house, I wanted them for cards. Pretty, intricate, lacy borders, all ready cut out for me, how could I resist?.....

I kept to the 'love theme' for these two cards, but they could just as easily be used for regular birthday cards as you will see tomorrow.....

Anyone want some of these? I have 15 in a pack for someone, and I will throw in this month's copy of Papercraft Inspirations magazine and the freebies that came with it (be sure to check out pages 54 & 55!) If you fancy these, just leave a comment under this post, I will draw a winner on Sunday and let you know on Monday

Three out of four cards done for my next magazine commission. I'm a happy bunny, hopefully the last one will be finished today, then just the dreaded step-by-step instructions to do and they should be in the mail by Wednesday. Result! See you tomorrow x

Still Sizzlin - Anniversary card

I found these fabulous acrylic stamps called Golden Oldies made by a company called Ai

I just love this image, they look quite smug - his apron isn't very clear in the photo, it says " kiss the cook"

Coloured with copics, and I embossed the background with the hearts folder - well, it is an anniversary card, and added a bit of random stitching.

I will be sending the halloween cards to

Jennie (jcscraphappy)

Email me with your address Jennie, and they will be on their way to you

Today is a special birthday for one of my crafting buddies here in Florida

Happy 50th Birthday Cheryl xx
I haven't been able to blog hop and visit you all as I usually do, I will in the next few days, promise, I just have rather a lot on at the moment, some magazine stuff and design team stuff to get done as well, so bear with me, keep the kettle boiling and the hob nobs out, I'll be along soon.......

Anniversary Card

I made this card with one of the frames from the storybook, 7 with the card frame ON, and lined the inside with acetate. I dotted gems along a few of the swirls. The flower was cut on silhouette (george cartridge) and I backed it with a scrap of real crunchy lace. A pretty brad (papermania) in the centre and I was done. The inside sentiment is Happy Wedding Anniversary. I really like these frame cards, and haven't used them enough. The card is 5" square, and the flower was cut at 3", first in black, then in hot pink. The white flower in the centre is cut from a strip of felt fusion.
I won't bore you with the heating saga, except to say I am still not toasty warm, and even as I write there is much banging and clattering in the garage where the new boiler is being installed today. The man hasn't done the sharp intake of breath once today, I think he is leaving that for us to do when we get the bill. Hey ho.........it's only money she sobbed.

Rose for BBTB

The challenge on Bitten By The Bug this week was to use the rose cut from Indie Art. Be sure to check out all the design team's creations HERE. I used the oval card cut with wildcard at 6 1/4" as the base, lined the back in a spotty paper by making memories, and simply stuck the rose onto the lacy front. The rose itself was cut on blackout in the dark green colour of the stem, then in light green. I cut the head of the rose five times and popped each layer on with dimensional foam, then I put tiny drops of holly red liquid pearls all around the flower. This is one of those cards that I would never have made if I hadn't been on the design team, but now that I have made it, I quite like it for a wedding or anniversary card.

Wildcard - Champagne Card

This was made using the bottle card cut on wildcard, I cut at 5". This is the first card that I have found difficult, and rather odd on this cartridge. I don't know what I did, but however I tried to fold it, it ended up with the fold on the 'wrong' side of the card, so that it would not open. I was pretty tired when I was doing it, so I am sure it was just me. But I decided that it would look good folded this way, with the bottle folded up from the bottom of the card. I handwrote some vaguely wine like words on the label and did a bit of doodling. The cork was run through the cuttlebug machine to give a bit of texture. I layered some real lace down the left hand side, and topped that with a punched border (martha stewart zigzag). The bottle had a good layer of glossy accents put on, so that it looks like glass. this would make a great wedding anniversary card I think.

Oh Happy Day - Wildcard

Another wildcard - this one took some doing, it was one of those cards that just wouldn't 'come together' whatever I did. The blank white looked flat and blank until I added black stitching, then ran through the cuttlebug using the paisley folder. The raised pattern came through on the back instead of the front, but it still added texture. Have you noticed that with the older cuttlebug folders, you put the paper in the folder with the black writing on top. with the newer ones this is reversed and the writing on the folder has to go on the back. Irritating, as I keep forgetting that, as in this card. I cut at 5". The paper on the back is by SEI, the phrase was also cut at 5", and the flowers are from a bunch I got from Michaels bridal aisle.

Michaelangelo painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and had time to go home for a shower before going down to the pub, in the time it took me to do this card (well, that's what it felt like). At long last, I am happy with it, and as it is for a special friend, I can finally tick this one off my 'to do' list.

A Perfect Pair Anniversary Card

I was at a 'swarm' this weekend, which is the nickname for a crop for cricut addicts. It was in Orlando, and luckily two of my pals came with me, so I didn't have to drive (thanks Cheryl). I hate the interstates around Orlando, and would probably still be there, going round and round in circles, handing over the kids inheritance at the toll booths........................... Anyway, back to the swarm, we had a great time, made new friends, laughed and chatted a lot. I made only 5 cards in 2 days, which is an indication of how much I was enjoying myself. We were asked to provide 30 items to put in 'goodie bags', and I had no idea I was supposed to be crafty. The stuff was fantastic - to give you an indication of how much I have to raise the bar for the next swarm, the fabulous little cat face treat bag above, is by my super talented friend Phyllis. She made 30!

The design team over on Bitten By The Bug were asked to use this pear cut from Home Accents this week. Take a look over there, there are some amazing designs. I cut the pears at 4", using papers from a Cloud 9 stack (Joannes), the white scallops are a new punch by martha stewart (who else?!) called double scallops. Ribbon also by MS

Another 'Joys' card, with the pears cut at 4" out of a tapestry pattern card which doesn't show up well in the photo. I covered them in diamond glaze so they are nice and glossy
