Firstly, today's card. In my massive clean up I found another very old stamp set from Stampin Up called Furnished with Love. I only kept it because I liked some of the sentiments - the images are too small for my taste (I often find that Stampin Up stamps are really small, and I like BIG)
So here's the sentiment.............
which led me to my Cricut and gypsy. I seem to have lost the charger for the gypsy, oops, hope I didn't throw it away by mistake during the cleaning frenzy. So gypsy dead, I leafed through some cartridge handbooks and found this chair on the Heritage cartridge. It was a very simple die cut, no layering, but I liked the shape......
so I cut it twice, once in black and once in a tiny flower print and trimmed the back and seat parts to fit. I found some old black screen mesh and thought it would look a bit like woven cane, I really like the way it turned out. The colours aren't very true in the photo, the background of the pattern paper is more green than yellow.......
Thank you all so much for responding to my post on commenting. I felt quite guilty that I was putting you all to so much trouble - it was more concern that I had stopped getting comments from 'regulars' that made me post, I didn't mean to whip up a comment frenzy. Of course, one of you knew the answer - thanks Barbara. She reminded me that I changed the settings before I went on holiday, and I have changed it back so that anyone can comment again - you don't need a google account or anything. I have switched comment moderation back on, so your comments won't show until I've checked for spam. I did love reading your comments yesterday though, you made me feel very loved and made my day! There were a couple of people who said that because they got emails, they sometimes wanted to ask a question and had to go through all their favourite blog lists to get here. When you get your email, there is Going Buggy in quite a pale script, just above the post heading, if you click on that 'Going Buggy, it will bring you straight here.
Anyway, thank you all again for all your support, I really appreciate you all.
We are heading up to the Lake District tomorrow for a week, so expect scenic photos and tales of sturdy walkers. I will be blogging from there every day as the trusty laptop is going on holiday with me. See you then x
I love that little chair En, and using the mesh behind it was brilliant. I have been commenting over the past couple of months. More surgery and ratty recuperation - a couple of more weeks and I should be a free woman again. Enjoy your weekend. hugs, eileen

ReplyDeleteGreat card Enfys.
I've just had a week off, just doing nothing or pottering about and it has been lovely - downside is that it's back to work on Monday.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have your commenting problem worked out. I LOVE that card..so, so creative to think to cut out cushions for it, and that caning is fantastic. I never come up with those creative thoughts..so jealous!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation, sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour card is amazing ... I would have looked at the chair and thought, ok it's a chair. But you took it to the next level (or kicked it up many more levels than I would have thought to do). Thank you for always inspiring me!
LOVE LOVE LOVE how the chair came out. That mesh is perfect for it. I noticed that you say that the colors are off in some of your pictures. For quick editing of my scans for posting on the web I use a program called Picasa3. It is a free program and super easy to use and fix the colors that are off. Once you DL the program and then upload your photo to it there is a feature called "I'm feeling lucky" Most of them time that is all I need to do to correct my colors. Sometimes it will give me a greenish tint so I undo that feature and click the Auto Contrast and that 99.99% of the time gets it for me. SUPER EASY! You can DL it from Picasa.com.
ReplyDeleteLove the chair! Mesh was genius!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday-relax.

This is one of my favorites of yours. I know you said it was just a simple image, but you turned it into a real chair. You are just so clever. Have a wonderful holiday. Kate
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on that chair. Very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteGlad all is okay with the commenting situation. I know sometimes I get very discouraged that there aren't comments, but I do see that people are checking in. Feed back is always good though. Thanks for all your lovely posts.
Hey En, I love that cartridge. I use it and Elegant edges way more than any other cartridge I have. Listen if you have tossed your recharger for your gypsy. I have 2. When mine broke, they said to keep all the things that came with it so I'd have it for the new one. Then they sent me a whole new one, recharger and all. So if you need one, I'll be happy to send it to you.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your vacation! I'm so glad I get to go along.
Hugs, Jess
