Fantastic!

Another refugee found sheltering in the murky depths of my cupboard was this Tim Holtz fan die, I only bought it because it was on clearance for some ridiculous low price - bargain, right? Well no, not really, since I have owned it for about three years and this is the first time it has seen the light of day. I must stop doing this!

Anyway, here is a card, I thought it would make a good male birthday card, for those irritating males who don't golf, fish, garden - they really should take up a hobby just to make our lives easier. I cut it out of two Crate Paper papers, and paper pieced the fan pieces, then added glossy accents to the plain, aqua paper. I punched a couple of circles from silver card to add a bit of detail, and added another to the banner to link it up. The sentiment was done on the computer. The whole fan/die thing annoys me because I could have done something similar using my Explore without spending any pennies..hey ho, I must learn to focus

I had a real 'mooching around and achieving nothing' sort of day yesterday - all the ideas that were floating around in my head turned into something that a five year old could achieve, as soon as they were put onto paper. Back to the drawing board........at least the rejects have shown me the way to go, so hopefully today will be full of results

Have a great weekend, I'll be back tomorrow with a little giveaway x

  2. Great male card Enfys. I dread to think what un-used "treasures/bargains" I have hidden away...I really must get around to having a proper sort out.

  6. I always struggle with making masculine cards. My husband is one of those guys who doesn't have a hobby. I really wish he did something! Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. Go on - let me guess - the little giveaway is the fan die! I do this all the time, can't resist a bargain, I think this is the one die I didn't buy out of the series. I don't even have a working cutting machine right now, I'm reluctant to part with the cash after the last disappointment and I don't have that sort of cash to waste now. It is a toss up between two or three, if I bother.
I have totally lost my mojo since Mother in Law was ill and she was in hospital then a home, she hasn't been at home in January or Feb so far but is coming home Wednesday, we have so much to do to get ready and then collect her, will life ever get back to normal?

  8. I have been fighting the urges to buy things because they are on clearance for a long time and I'm getting better at it. The card did turn out cute though.
Isn't it funny how you have a great idea and in your head it's just perfect and then when it's done it just isn't at all as wonderful as expected? I can soooo relate.
    Thanks for sharing this.

  9. Gosh Enfys I do that all the time, find things lurking that I bought just because they were a bargain and of course i end up never using them, and you're right that these days a lot of the die shapes could actually be created on the Explore. Note to self: stop snapping up 'bargains' :D x

  11. That's a cutie. I know what you mean about buying things you don't need. I've been on a long-term self imposed spending ban, for over 2 yrs. I only buy necessities. Like adhesives. I did get some new stamp sets from Stampin'Up in Jan. (For my birthday) but that's the first thing since Don got sick!. I think we've decided that I can have a monthly allowance. I'd love that. Thanks for sharing your fan card. (Summer cards with that die for sure). Hugs, Jess
