Peel Offs!

Like lots of crafters in the UK, I am quite snobbish about peel offs. I don't see these outline stickers very often in the USA, but you can buy them everywhere at home, and serious cardmakers tend to regard them as cheating a bit. So where I got these black Christmas peel offs is a mystery, but I suppose I must have bought them at some stage. When looked closely at them I realised that they were really rather nice. Here's what I made

A few gems and I was done. Ah well, that's two more in the Christmas box - anyone who doesn't make cards will think I have been very clever (I hope!)

Look out for a couple of giveaways on here in the next few days. It's my birthday next week and I will have a birthday giveaway, and Letraset have come up with a gift for two of you as well. In fact, come to think of it, there will be giveaways for most of the week........

Only November, and already I am sick of the Christmas advertisements for the supermarkets on the TV  They seem to be playing them endlessly. I have already watched about 200 turkeys being carved, and jolly looking people in silly paper hats laughing merrily as they pull a cracker - come on guys, it's not that amusing - all you are going to get is a plastic keychain and a bad joke to go with your silly hat. Bah humbug (not really, I love Christmas, just hate the fact that the commercial side of things gets earlier and earlier. Soon we will be singing carols while we eat our Easter eggs...)

Off to take photos of some goodies for a giveaway now. Have a lovely weekend

  1. Two super simple cards hun! I know exactly where you are coming from about the snob value of peel-offs - but I admit to being a bit partial to some of the straight line jobbies for a bit of sparkle on a border, and I'm not in the slightest bit ashamed of it! Happy Easter. Hugs, Sxx

  2. Two fabulous cards and great use of peel offs - don't use them very often although I have got a stack of them - I do believe you can't just "stick" them on - there is an art in getting it right and you've certainly achieved this.
Totally agree about the commercial aspect of Christmas and try to ignore it until as late as possible - hence a mad scramble even to do my own cards.

  9. Hi Enfys,

I love your cards, and as for as peel offs, I love them too. They are hard to find here in the states, and those black ones are awesome. I used some last Christmas, they are great for fast sentiments, and I love the elegance they add to a plain card. Have a lovely weekend, catcha' next week on your BD.

    Hugz, xx

  10. I'm not sure but I think ours are calle Dazzles in the states. I agree, I have several but I always think that's cheating to use them. After seeing your beautiful cards I think I'll dig mine out. My grandson's BD is today and my husbands is tomorrow. Looks like many wonderfufl people have November birthdays!

  15. Enfys these are lovely! I must say I feel the same way about sticker type elements but some are amazing. I also feel the same about the Christmas ads. I am going to start using mute more and work very hard to find only joy in this season with does not come from what is bought and sold.

  16. Love your cards. I think the outline stickers are great. I use Styl'ine Stickers in Classic Black, gold and silver. Some times they are just the right touch. They also work well for coloring in the spaces with watercolors or acrylic, etc. Check out USArtquest.com for the Styl'ine stickera and she might have a video watercoloring them.

  17. Nothing wrong with a simple easy card! I hadn't ever seen these. I do have and occasionally remember to use some greeting and border peel-offs. Oh I do agree with you about the Christmas Hype. The stores were crowding out the Halloween stuff with Christmas, next it will be the 4th of July, oh wait it already is! Christmas in July has gotten big. Just try to ignore it and not grind your teeth to much!

  18. Love these cards and you are very clever. It takes a bit of creativity to know what to do with these. I know what you mean though, I am a bit snobbish about them yet I do own a few. Have a good weekend.
