Today is my sister's birthday - Penblwydd hapus cariad (that's Welsh for happy birthday)
Here's her card. I used one of the new cricut lite cartridges called Bloom, and cut the gate at 3", shadowed in black.
The little boy is a stamp by Art Impressions, I thought he would look cute peeping through the gate. I traced around the shape of the gate and cut out the front of the card, then covered it in green paper (all papers Colorbok). I then cut an arch out at 5" for the inside of the card
I added a brad for the handle of the gate
I then flipped the gate and cut another one for the inside...............
the sentiment oval is by Craftwork Cards
I am really pleased with her card, unfortunately she will not get it in time - I spent ages doing it, put it in a padded envelope, took it to the post office and jumped through all the hoops - customs forms in triplicate, airmail stamps, etc etc. Yesterday, it was returned to me as 'undeliverable'. I don't think it had left the US, so some hapless mailman has been scratching his head wondering exactly where Worcestershire is in the USA. So it will travel back with me next week, she will just have to have another birthday celebration then.
Here is a sneak peek at Kiki's birthday card - it's not her birthday until August, but I made this one early, and I think she will love it. To see the card go to Scrappy-go-Lucky yes, I used the pens again
I'll be back tomorrow, have a great day - it's the first day of summer today
I then flipped the gate and cut another one for the inside...............

En, your sister's card is sooo beautiful. Love the litte fella on there. I'm sure she won't mind if it's a bit late (she can just read your blog and see it :) )
ReplyDeleteThe gate on both sides is a fabulous idea!

ReplyDeleteCharming card for your sister
and after all you did to get it there on time!! i'm sure your sister will be very happy to celebrate again.
Ohhhh Enfys... your birthday card is AMAZING... I love that fence!!!
ReplyDeleteWish you were my sis :D
hugs Anja
Oh my goodness, I love your card. The cut out gate is somthing I'd like to try to do. I understand about the mail. Some friends had to go to NY for four months for thier job and took the whole family. I made cards for all the little kids, put them in a puffy envelope and took it to the postoffice to get extra stamps. They never got the package and I never got it back! Grrrr!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!! What a lovely card, and I'll bet Kiki's is too!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the post office! If they can get it wrong, they will. But they still keep raising the prices of stamps!
I'd love to hear you speak Welsh. I read a lot of authors from the UK, so I often see welsh words and I can't figure out how to pronounce them. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but it sure is distracting!
You must be packing now, for your return trip. I hope it goes with out drama. Take care, hugs, Jessica
Oh my goodness; the gate card is amazing; LOVE the little boy image with the dog tugging on his shirt. Amazing creation; the black really makes the arch & fence pop!
ReplyDeleteConfident Kiki is going to love her card too - what's not to love about lots of pink & bling!!
So beautiful card Enfys,i love your image and the colours.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous papers.
Hugs Riet.xx

ReplyDeleteI love the detail on your gate card and the little boy is adorable. The bling on Kiki's card makes it!
ReplyDeleteEnfys your card is adorable!! So sorry your card is touring the US. Sure wish it came to my home.LOL I just purchased the BLOOM lite cart. Thanks for the idea on how to use a few of the cuts.

Your Sister will adore this, En. She'll not mind it's late one bit. That little boy peering over the gate is adorable. You are so clever with your die cutting gadgets.

Enfys,
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great job. I did a card on my blog today and was thinking about you. The paper came from Tuesday Morning. Simple card for me bling, brads, and paper.

Enfys -have just been having a catch up of your postings and love everything but I really enjoyed the Stampfest Orlando video. How did you manage to leave the place solvent? What lovely rich colour combos esp. the orangey pink with the vibrant blue and were those Lorelie designs I saw? Like the fabrics you sometimes use. Betcha those stamps aren't available in the UK. The samples were jawdropping. Thanks Enfys. Hugs BettyXXX
ReplyDeleteSo so pretty. This is one of the lites that I want. Now if our Walmart would just go ahead and put them out. The poor little pegs all labeled with the names of what cartridge will call that peg home are just hanging there all empty. I have been in there looking so many times the clerks just stare and follow me with their eyes.
ReplyDeleteEnfys - your birthday card for Gwendydd is awesome. I love everything about it and especially the way you did the little boy looking in. Your sis will love it. I also like your card for KiKi. I can't wait to get my pens so I can try something like that. Your princess is beautiful and of course it is because of your coloring. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky sister!! You never cease to amaze me with your imaginatio. My gosh have you been here three months already? Hey, take some of our heat home with you, although the evenings have't been so bad, it is just the days that are soooo hot. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI just love both of these Birthday cards!! Beautiful!!!!! :)
