The first of the month means a brand new challenge over at Get Funky this month it's Allison's turn to set the challenge and she chose a colour combo
Pink, Cream and Brown
which was fine by me, as it's one of my favourite colour combinations
All the papers were printed from the V. Funky CD, I liked the look of the Plantin Schoolbook scallops on my card yesterday, so I cut three layers for the top and bottom, cream, brown and pink. the flowers and stems were cut using the Gypsy Wandering cartridge, and the sentiment and card candy is by Craftwork Cards
I really like the little die cut holes around the centre of these flowers, I layered them up for dimension
As always, there is a £20 ($30 value) gift certificate for the winner of the monthly challenge, and the top five get a blinkie for their blogs
I realised with a sinking feeling today that my hair needs a cut. I just haven't found the right hairdresser here in Florida, despite all my friends here having great haircuts, I just can't get it right. I once went to one who, when she heard my accent, spent an hour and a half trying to make me look like the Queen. Honestly, she gave me those curl things each side of my forehead. The Queen is in her eighties for heaven's sake. Then there was the one who had me washed, cut and blow dried in fifteen minutes flat - they didn't even let me take my jacket off. I looked like a hedgehog that time. Mike does the husbandly thing always, when I go home distraught with another bad hair cut 'it looks fine darling' . The day of the 15 minute cut even he was heard to say 'it might look better after you've washed it'. So if you hear on the news that there was a hurricane in Florida today, take no notice, it will just be me blowing my top.

ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about haircuts. I believe I have only had 2 hairdressers that have cut my hair in a way that I like, and I get the same look when I washed my hair the next time! I hope you find someone to give a cut that is acceptable to you!!!!!
Crafty hugs,
Lisa

Lovely Card! I hope all goes well with your hair today. Don't you need to wear hats in FL because of the sun? Hee Hee
ReplyDeleteDear En.Very pretty card but had to chuckle about your hairdo thing. Here's something you could try if you are cheeky enough. When you see someone with a hairdo you like and think might suit you ask them where they got it done. When you go there have a good idea just what you want-be realistic. It worked for me years ago and I've since sent many people to the same hairdresser. She doesn't cost the earth either. Good luck. Hugs BettyXXX
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card,
ReplyDeletethe colors are beautiful :D
Hugs Anja
I can sympathize! I haven't had a decent cut since 1985ish. That was when my hairdresser closed his shop! I have had to develop an I dont care attitude. Because I never get the same cut twice! The most interesting thing is that my boyfriend does as good a job as the rest of them. Yep I turned him lose with scissors! He's done it 3 times now. And apart from the odd small whisp of hair I've had to cut off, he's done a great job! And before you ask, he works in the printing industry! He's not a beautition!
ReplyDeleteI love your card! And I love the 'carc candy'. Thanks a bunch, Jess
HAHAHA - the Queen! You need to go back to her with a Hungarian accent and she'll fix you up like Zsa Zsa Gabor!
ReplyDeleteLove your work Enfys!
LOL Enfys that's hilarious! I have long hair, wish I had the courage to go short. Love the soft color on your card! TFS
ReplyDeleteOh, Enfys, I love your little stories! This layout is so pretty. The flowers pop wit the layering. TFS
ReplyDeleteHi Enfys. Stunning card. I love those flowers and it is a fab colourway.

I really like this card Enfys ... the softness of it and the colors are so very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBTW ... when you find that good hair dresser, pass me the name, would you? I need to trim at least 18 inches or more. My poor hair is riding below my knees now. You say that they didn't let you take your jacket off, well, they don't let me sit down ... for when I do, they'd have to almost lay on the floor to reach the bottom of it! =( Last time I had it cut, I told my DH that he was taking me out to dinner when I got home ... either to celebrate my nice cut ... or to console me because of the mess it was in! HA! Luckily, it turned out fine.
Hugz,
♥Carol♥
What a great card. Love that you used Gypsy Wanderings...I always forget that I have those two Gypsy "carts". Good luck with the hair cut. I hate getting my hair cut too. That's why my hair is way too long for someone as long in the tooth as I am. Que sera sera I guess. Pam
ReplyDeletegorgeous floral card En

ReplyDeleteYou so make me chuckle Enfys and you inspire my card making at the same time! You should start charging us to be entertained! xx
ReplyDeleteHaha! You are sooo funny! I can just picture the Queens curls! I love your card and the colors. So elegant.
ReplyDeleteI love this card! Those scallops are great. The color combo is wonderful. Awesome card!! I'll disregard any storm warnings for Florida!! I've had the same hairdresser forever. I sit down in his chair and he does his thing. Guess I'm in a rut. I don't even have to tell him how I want it done!!! Good luck finding a good one! Hair like the Queen huh!!! LOLOLOL :)

great card and I too hate getting my hair cut. It stems back to a terrifying childhood experience. Perhaps I should blog about it in a funny sort of way. BTW you would be proud of me. I've made nearly 144 cards in the last 2 weeks. I'm making sets of 12 cards for 12 different teachers. I'm going to post pics...some time in my life.
ReplyDeleteLove this color combo!! Your card is really beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLove that card, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSorry you are having hair problems, I know just who would get it right, but you'd have to come to the Buffalo, NY area. Actually she isn't far from the airport, so you might fly in for a cut. LOL! Good luck in the hairdresser hunt!
Enfys,
ReplyDeleteGreat job as usual. I love the pink, cream and biege...
