Happy B-day

As soon as I spotted this new hexagon die and letterpress plates for the Fiskars Fuse, I knew that I had to have it. I started off with a bit of stencilling with the Tim Holtz honeycomb and some Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste which was sponged with spiced marmalade and lemonade distress inks.....

Would you believe that this bee stamp is the first one I ever bought. It cost me a dollar from Walmart and I have used it countless times. The hexagon was letterpressed with the honeycomb design. I deliberately stamped off the sentiment, inking it only once for all three stampings, I wanted a faded look....

and here, after my build up yesterday (hopefully) is Kiki's design which she has called Pimpernel (I must ask her why she chose to call it that). Not bad for a nine year old, I must ask her to design some digi stamps I can use!

Off to meet friends for lunch today, so a long chat by a cozy pub fire and good food will keep me away from my desk for a while, but I'll see you tomorrow x

  12. Your honeycomb card is wonderful. Looks like Kiki has a future in designing. It's like I always say, "If I can't be in my craft room I might as be in a pub". Enjoy your lunch.

  13. En, I love your card! I have to start using all the supplies I have collected but haven't used! lol You are a great motivator!!
Kiki's image is amazing!!! Made me immediately think of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" novels!! A wonderful series of books...I think they were based upon a play from the early 1900's that was produced in England. Her images are beautiful and to me look like stylized versions of the pimpernel flower!! She has a ton of talent for sure! It's an apple/tree thing I think....you have surely influenced her to explore her creative side. Please do have her work on digi stamps! I'll certainly be a customer! You must be bursting with pride!

  16. Love your bee card! So pretty with all the different textures. Isn't it funny how sometimes our favourite things are the simple ones - I think your bee stamp is very cute and can see how you would have used it many times. It's perfect for this card.

  19. Is Kiki's design a pimpernel flower? It looks like one to me. Isn't that what the "Scarlet Pimpernel" was named after. My rememberer is a bit off.;) Love your card, I want to get a punch or something with that shape. I've seen that little be in several of your posts... Too cute. TFS Hugs, Jess
