A fun new challenge on Polkadoodles today, set by our Italian design team member Miria who chose the theme
That' s AMORE
use any film or song with a love theme as your inspiration
I was really short of time for this one, but having been AWOL for a couple of weeks, I delved into my stock of Polkadoodles papers and images printed from the Love and Cherish CD, and came up with this card, inspired by Shania Twain's 'Still the One' - I love that song
I matted everything in black, added some doodling, ribbon and a charm. Quick and easy and I quite like the finished look
Have you made your valentine cards yet? I keep meaning to make one for each of the children, but don't think I will have the time. I am full of good intentions that never quite make it to reality. Mike and I don't really do valentines day - nothing to do with having been married for a long time, we never did, even in the first flush of new romance, so we certainly aren't about to start now. I see magazines with romantic table layouts, complicated ideas for that romantic dinner for two, even articles on what to wear for that romantic date........what a faff! Good luck to you all if you are going down that route....me? I'll be cosying up in my nice warm PJ's over a nice warm craft table with my lovely, but totally unromantic husband for company :) Mind you, I have always been attracted to the idea of finding some little diamond bauble dangling from a giant bunch of red roses. Sigh.
See you tomorrow
Adorable!! I LOVE THE PAPER TOO!! WOW! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI think we are both from the same school of thought Enfys lol. Why start now after 32 years of marriage lol. I told my hubby jokingly that I would have to give him one of my dt valentine cards. He says...well you may make two and give yourself one lol. Love your little card, very tweet and gorgeous little heart charm. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe owls are adorable. I don't make anything for my husband - my choice and we do not go out either - after almost 25 years of marriage - fine by me! I do make card for my daughter and her friends away at college.
ReplyDeleteFab card! We've never bothered either!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Enfys! I love the image and sentiment.

Hi Enfys, great card, love the papers:0) I'm with you on the romantic thing and so's my hubby, he thinks it's all a ruse by the shops to get us spending our hard earned pennies. I can't help wistfully dreaming of diamond rings either, ah! such is life:0) xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat card En! I found a kids pop-up book about 20 years ago called "lovebugs" and each page has oodles of funny little lady bugs and all sorts of things with cute little sayings on each page. It gets dragged out every year and put on the kitchen counter as our Valentine to each other. Other than that you'll find me in my chair knitting and himself and the dog on the couch pretending to watch tv with their eyes closed. hugs, ei
ReplyDeleteCute card! Cute story about you and your DH and your Valentine day plans...
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...I do love Polkadoodles, thanks to you. I eventually would like to get all of the CDS...I have 5 now! God bless you and your hubby...Just being together is good...Pamela
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I too am one who's never been big on valentines day. It's a 'halmark' holiday. Only created by the cardmaking and candy companies to rake in the revinue. Well, that's what I think any way. Of course if I was ever given a gift, I wouldn't turn it down. But I've always let people know that I don't celebrate the day.
ReplyDeleteSlight case of seeing double on our cards En. Love what you did with the owls.
ReplyDeleteHope you're recovering from the jet lag - my daughter who's only 20 took a week to recover!
xx
Love the card! Cute Cute!
ReplyDeleteDH and I usually try to go to dinner that HE sets up! This year he was sweet and on a plain yellow post-it stuck to my calendar's Feb 14 was "Club Paris, 6:00" That's about as romatic as it gets to me! Any day I don't have to make dinner is a gift!
Wow Enfys, love these owls!! Very pretty card! HUgs, Frea

Oh my I haven't seen you in soooo long.. you just disappeared off my sidebar. :-( Going to try to put you back on, I have so missed reading about your adventures. I usually don't make a valentine for my dh.. I did this year for a challenge, he will probably faint. lol.. but I do usually make one for the boys. So good to see you again. hugs my friend..
ReplyDeleteSilly me, was going on and on and forget to tell you how lovely your card is... hugs again
ReplyDeleteLove this and the heart charms are perfect!

Very pretty card. Valentine's Day is usually a bust for us too. Part of it is that Dave's birthday is the day after so we do more celebrating of that. I do try to do something small for Valentine's though, just haven't figured out what yet.
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful Enfys! I married at 37, have 2 adorable daughters, ages 10 and 8, but we too usually don't celebrate Valentine's Day except with the kids and school parties. I think we went out to dinner the first year we were married. My husband was a waiter during his college days, and he thinks everything is "hiked up" in prices at the restaurants on that day. We both know that we really love one another, and it's the small things that you do for one another that really matter! Enjoy! -nu2scrap-
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Enfys. Love the colors. We will be married 50 years this June and have always exhanged cards, but somehow they would be so much more romantic if he looked like Fabio! LOL!

Sooo Pretty
ReplyDeleteSweet little card. Pretty papers. Sometime simple is the way to go. My husband used to make a big todo over Valentines Day. I guess it goes back to our 1st date which was Valentines Day. Flowers, Dinner and Dancing. Did it work? We married May 28th of that same year and that was 35 years ago. Anymore I hate the crouds if we goto Dinner and since its Valentine's they raise the prices on the meals too. I perfer his cooking anyway. He is a retired firefighter and let me tell you them firefighters can cook.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card. I like the color and the layout.
ReplyDeleteI'm back completely smitten by this beautiful card, dear Enfys.
