Fiskars Fuse Magic....

At last I have had a chance to get started with the Fuse that Fiskars kindly sent me. It's a large, heavy workhorse of a machine, the only place I have for it is in the garage, but after using it today I need to make room for it upstairs because this machine blows the other manual diecutters out of the water and I will be using it for all my dies.......

When open, it has a really large working platform, I don't have any of the really big dies or embossing folders, but it would certainly take them....

It has a useful little storage box built in which is handy for cutting mats and smaller dies......

I love the letterpress feature - more of that tomorrow, you get basic die shapes, this one is a scalloped oval, then you get thinner design plates which fit onto the die, you ink those to get the letterpress - it's a really unique feature that gives a very professional look to your projects....

You can buy extra letterpress/embossing plates to fit within your die.....

All I did today was mess around with different weight card and paper, and it didn't let me down once! This first one is a very delicate vellum....

next, I cut a thick, furry fabric.......

and a piece of thick black plastic.......

some very delicate embellished mulberry paper......

and some felt - I tried a letterpress plate on this as well.....

and a sheet of thin cork, also letterpressed....

So my first 'workout' was a great success - I'm impressed - the only thing I would like to change is the size of my craftroom! Hopefully I will be able to show you some actual projects over the next few days. If you want to try one of these machines, Hobbycraft in the UK do demo days, where you can try the machine yourself, go online to find details

See you tomorrow x

  1. Oh.....I Think I am going to love this machine. It looks great.
I love the size that you can die cut larger items with this. Can't wait to see what you come up with tomorrow.

  2. Thanks for the review. I hadn't even considered the Fuse, but now it's on my wish list! Looking forward to seeing your projects!

  3. very nice. I know you'll be making some nice projects to show us! congratulations on your new machine!

  4. WOW!!! That looks like a "Must Have"
tool..will wait for more info from you because I'm really thinking this one over, since you stated it blows the others out of the water..that the tool for me...the letter press is very impressive!! going to back track the post your first show it..

  5. Looks very impressive Enfys. Size would be a problem for me as I really wouldn't have anywhere to put one **boohoo**

  6. I'm suffering serious Gadget Envy now.....

  7. I can tell that you are loving your new Fuse already. One of the features that you mention that really "peaked" my interest, was the built in storage area for cutting mats and dies. That is one thing that the other die cutters don't have (or at least none that I am aware of).

I am currently using a Cuttlebug. It suits my needs nicely and I really like it. However, even though it's more compact than most die cutters (the sides fold up, the hand crank folds in, and the top handle drops down flush within the machine), there is still the need to find a place to store the various cutting plates and mats when not in use ... preferably somewhere near the stored Cuttlebug since they are used together. So the reality is that it actually requires more storage space than what is needed for just the size of the machine itself.

For that reason alone, I'd give the Fuse a thumbs Up!

  8. This looks absolutely fab Enfys - a crafter's dream. The Scan n Cut also looks brilliant so it could come down to price. choices, choices.... Pat x

  9. That looks like fun! I haven't really considered the Fuse, but perhaps in the future I will. Since I already have a Cuttlebug, Spellbinders, Cricut Expression, E2 and an Imagine, I'm sure my husband won't see the "need'! LOL. Looking forward to the new projects you make with it. BethAnn M.

  10. Can't wait to see the projects you make with the Fuse. It's an interesting machine, but, like others, I don't have room for it in my craft area. I'm beginning to wish I didn't just have a craft room, but a craft house!

  11. Wow, that's a big machine! I wonder what the price is. Well, I can't buy a new die cutter anyway. Just curious. I'm with you, I like the letter press feature too. How many different machines do you have? I only have a Cuttlebug. (and my Cricut) So I don't have a lot of dies. Hope you can find a space for it in your craft room. Having to go up or down stairs to use it would get really old, quickly. lol Hugs, Jess

  12. Have fun with your new machine.

  13. Sounds like a great machine. If I were in the market for a die cutting machine, I'd probably seriously consider this one. Thanks for the review. Can't wait to see some projects.

  14. Oh my goodness thats amazing what a fab machine and the cuts you showed are amazing too x

  15. Wow, your new toy can do so many different things! I look forward to all different crafty things you will be making using the Fuse.

  16. Can you use the Fuse dies with a Cuttlebug? I can't afford another machine!
    Hugs, Renee

  17. Hiya Enfys, I had the wonderful pleasure of trying out the Fuse at the NEC last Nov with your friend Kath on the Fiskars stand & I loved it!!!! I just wish I had the money to buy one. It is such a wonderful invention & yes, the best Die cutter that beats all others into the corner. It is heavy & will need a permanent home on the worksurface/desk in your craft area/room, the dies for it, with being a letterpress & embosser all in one are large so storage for those... & you will only be able to use them in the Big Shot/BS Pro as an alternative (I think) as they are a thick die as you can see in one of the photos Enfys has taken. I would love it, even before an electronic cutter as im disabled & my arms are weak.... Have loads of fun Enfys
    {{{{hugs}}}} xx

  18. Ooh, this looks good. Thanks for the tip on the demo days

I love reading your comments, thank you for taking the time
