Mirror Mirror - for Daring Cardmakers....

This weeks dare over on Daring Cardmakers is to use something shiny or reflective - now once again this was a bit of a challenge for me, I don't use much mirri card at all, not really my style, and it is so darn difficult to photograph as well, but I came up with this using a Memory Box die....

It's one of those negative dies, so it was easy just to back it with gold card, and I punched out a few little hearts to scatter around. I thought it would make a great Golden Wedding Anniversary card......

So there is clearly a blocked drain or something in the road outside our house, a mini torrent of water has been flowing down the road for days now. We called the water board, they came and surveyed, scratching their heads, then there was no action for days, while the water continued to puddle outside our drive. Today, big action......four vans and eight guys turned up, laden with very important stuff like barriers to close the road off. And Action............
No, they have been sitting in their vans for five hours as I write this, the water continues to flow, and they continue to stare at it. Sometimes I despair...........

  5. I struggle with foil or mirror card, too. I always think it looks a bit too flashy, but your design is lovely! Good luck with the water; at least, it is going down the road and not into your house!

  6. Luv your Card it's gorgeous.....but I did have a good chuckle about the repair men..the only difference from the US is that the men here stand and stare at the problem...lol

  7. Beautiful card En. I don't have an issue with mirri card... I just don't have any 😋. It's about the same here in the US. They stand around with shovels in hand, looking into the hole. While one of them actually works! Hope you can get in & out of your drive! Good luck! Hugs, Jess

LOL about the repair folks. Happens here ALL the time. So much wasted time and money.

  10. WOW ... Enfys, this card is gorgeous! I the general technique may not have been too complex, but the effects are stunning and I can only imagine how much more lovely it is in person. I love using mirror card and use it often and totally agree that it is extremely difficult to photograph in a way that really shows their true beauty.

Gotta love your "water in the road" story. I can clearly picture the workers, with their very important stuff, just sitting around scratching their heads, totally perplexed about what to do. It happens often around here. It makes one wonder if perhaps they either get paid by the hour or don't want to get their precious hands and feet wet. Who knows? It's funny to watch, but not so funny if they barricade the road in front of your house.

  11. I love this card Enfys - I too struggle with mirror card, I think it's hard to keep it elegant as it can so often be a bit much - putting it behind a die cut is the perfect way to get a nice subtle look, great idea. Hope the floods outside your door have been sorted now!
