First E2 Project

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE BLOG CANDY GIVEAWAY

Between getting sick, going to Spain, unpacking again....I have only just got around to unpacking my brand new E2 Cricut machine, it needed updating which I was dreading syncing stuff on the computer usually leads to big problems for me, but it all went well, and I just clicked on the shoe from the built-in Cricut Alphabet cartridge, to cut at 1", and I was astounded how well it sliced through that paper, no snagging or tears at all. I got into a frenzy of cutting, using thin papers, thick cardstock, and even a shiny textured one, they all cut like butter. There is no way my Expression would have coped with all that without some irritating tears. So once I had cut out this little pile of shoes, well, I had to do something with them, so up popped this card

So my first impressions are good, I find some things tedious, like altering the size, but since I made this card I have used it a lot more, and like everything, it gets much easier when you are familiar with the icons (and it still cuts like butter)

We are in the market for some new carpet. So Mike and I went shopping. The first store was an abandoned wreck - victim of the economy I fear, the second one didn't have any sales people around at all, and the third one.................well, words fail me, or almost fail me. We walked into quite a high-end store and started browsing the carpets. We looked around for assistance and there was a chap in a little office munching on a sandwich. He looked up, saw us, returned to his sandwich. So we drifted around, then looked hopefully again at him. 'Is there anyone to help us?' we asked. He just shook his head and waved his sandwich in the air. Presumably we were meant to understand mime. After about 10 minutes of this, we walked out, with me saying sarcastically to him as we stalked past 'great customer service you have in here'. He nodded, smiled, and waved his sandwich at us as a goodbye (which made me laugh, it was so unexpected. Not one word was spoken.) Perhaps he wasn't a sales person at all, just a customer who had been waiting so long for service that he decided to sit in the office and have his lunch - we could have joined him if we had thought to pack a picnic.

  7. I love your card. First "shoe card" I've seen that I really liked. As for that rude salesman, it's a good thing he wasn't here in NY. After hearing what a New Yorker would have said to him, he would probably need a little rescusitation - lol. We don't do well with lousy customer service and tend to get very verbal. And, he's apparently independently wealthy and could afford to lose a sale. What an idiot! You handled it well. I would have ripped him a new one.

  11. Love your card Enfys and your comments, lol. I don't know what the world has come to, I frequently find the same ignorance from sales people. Must say I have not seen one finding lunch more appealing than a sale! ~Diane

  12. Love the card! Sorry to read about the carpet shopping. That is a hard item to buy anyway. Good that you could find a laugh in the end. Is the E2 that much different than using a Gypsy with an expression? It will be fun watching you with your new toy.
    Enjoy!

  14. Thank you for sharing a great card with us, Enfys! I really like the shoes! The E2 has been getting some great reviews, better even than the Imagine!

Yes, customer service is going to the toilet. Retailers have let go of the workers, keeping middle management - quite the opposite it seems - than they should! We have also been encountering some horrible customer service as of late!

Take care and rest up a bit!

  15. Love your shoes. Is it only on the new Cricut E2, not a cartridge. Seems like "service" is the same as here. Good luck with your carpets

  17. Great card, Enfys. Your story at first left me dumbfounded, but then I remembered when we looked for carpet and were writing down the info on the carpet because you could go online and see how the carpet looks in your house by uploading a photo (which we explained to the lady). She was so sure we would buy the carpet online, (really how many people do that?) that she told us to leave the store and took the samples she had given us back. Her husband had been so nice, too. We bought better quality carpet elsewhere and that store is now out-of -business. You think in this economy they would work harder! Enjoy your day!

  19. That is such a cute card and sentiment. I used to have rows and rows of shoes when I worked, but got rid of most of them when I retired. Now old age makes me afraid of falling, so I mainly wear low heels now. I'm so glad you walked out of those stores. Great service always gets my sale!
