First of all, thanks to all of you who entered the Polkadoodles giveaway this month. Unfortunately there can only be two winners, and they are:
The Sprinkles of Kraft CD goes to Carol aka cyimbugbitten
and the Wonderland papers CD goes to 2KutiesGrandma
Congrats to you both, email me with your address and I will get them in the mail to you
Don't forget, Polkadoodles has free shipping to anywhere in the world, and I will have another giveaway at the end of May
On to todays card - a sweet little image from Lili of the Valley, coloured very lightly with Promarkers. I used an embossing folder found in the UK called Drip Drop (I knew when I saw it that it would be useful for cards like this). I added some Doodle Dewdrops from Polkadoodles, and although it doesn't show, the puddles of water and bubbles have a coat of Glossy Accents
Well, what about the wedding then? Wasn't it totally fabulous? I did stay up for most of the night because I sat mesmerised in front of some obscure TV channel which had some so-called-etiquette-expert from the UK teaching some American presenters how the Royals ate their soup.Honestly, it was riveting :)
Of course, we all agree, the bride looked stunning, the bridesmaids adorable, the two Princes bought a lump to my throat.............. I felt very proud to be British
Of course, we all agree, the bride looked stunning, the bridesmaids adorable, the two Princes bought a lump to my throat.............. I felt very proud to be British
BUT
I have questions
1. Doesn't the Archbishop of Canterbury have a wife? A daughter? Anyone who loves him enough to say kindly 'You know Rowan, if you are going to be on TV in two billion homes, perhaps you should get those eyebrows trimmed' They were more flyaway than a jumbo jet!
2. Does anyone know who the nuns were? Did you notice them, sitting quietly, hands folded in laps at the side of the newly weds when they were listening to the reading and address? Then at the end, when the clergy left the Abbey, they joined the procession. One was about 4'6" tall, the other one must have been nearly 6'. Wouldn't you think they could have found a perfectly matched pair for the occasion? Perhaps they were MI5 agents in disguise......no, that's even sillier
3. When did hats stop being hats, worn on peoples heads, and become ridiculous models of various world landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, or Big Ben, balanced on the bridge of the wearers nose
4. Princess Eugenie. Princess Beatrice. Why?
I have observed all these details, as I watched the replays over and over and over......sigh, time to get back to the craftroom
See you tomorrow
This is soooo adorable!!! I love those bunnys
ReplyDeleteOMG those hats were just bizzare! I'm so glad you mentioned the eyebrows because I was actually thinking about writing an open letter to him on my blog. I mean they were like muppet brows! Love the cards and I'm bummed I'm not a winner.
ReplyDeleteI love this card!! Great job...sweet as can be.
ReplyDeleteMarcie
Thank heaven's I'm not the only one who thought those hats were totally ridiculous! The rest of it was a treat, though.

Hi Enfys
ReplyDeleteWould have loved to watch the soup programme shame I only arrive on Saturday.
Are there any bargains out there, I normally get a list from your blog of the bargains you have bought but seem to have missed them this time.
Hugs
Amanda

ReplyDeleteI just love this two.
Thanks for giving this great blog.
So thankful to be a winner! (I never win anything.) 100% agreement about the hats, especially the one Princess Beatrice was wearing. You really have to wonder what she was thinking. Great card - very sweet.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winner!
ReplyDeleteLove the card.
And! I was thinking about Cinderella's sisters when I saw the princess getting out of the car. LOL

First of all, LOVE your card! The dew drops were such a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I didn't see the royal wedding? My hubby is born and raised in the UK - I think it's sacrilege not to at least be interested in watching it unfold on TV!!! But I did see some pictures on the web - Kate was stunning!
Oh Dear Enfys, I thought the same! Many of the hats were beautiful and very tasteful, some were ridiculous. I wonder if Sarah had a hand in selecting since she wasn't invited. Those two young ladies looked horrid.
ReplyDeleteThe day though was about William and Kate. She stole the show the minute she stepped from the car! What a lovely couple to one day be the King and Queen of England!
Cute, cute card! Congratulations to the winners.
Blessings for a wonderful May, Donna

What a wonderful image. I loved the soft colors you used, Enfys. From the coverage of the wedding, we Americans would think, you Brits, always wore your hats like that. don't you? ;- ) Some were gorgeous though. It must be hard to come up with so many different ideas for hats, though the ideas for Princess Eugenia's and Princess Margret's should have hit the circular file and the designer should have hit the streets. Hugs, debbie
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling card. I love the soft colors. I went to bed early, set my alarm for 1:00 and then spent the rest of the night glued to the TV. I loved every minute of the wedding, pomp and kisses. The hats were a kick!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners! I love the bunnies!
ReplyDeleteI have chuckled out loud as your questions were definitely my questions. I said (out loud to the TV): "Get thee to an eyebrow trimmer!!!", wondered about the height of the nuns, hated the hats, and wanted to give the Princesses a lesson in what to wear. Soooooo funny!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat card, too, byt the way!!!
Beautiful card! I love your thoughts on the wedding - I don't think I've spoken to one friend/relative yet who hasn't wondered what on earth those hats were all about - reindeer antlers, we thought?
ReplyDeleteLovely card En, the coloring is great, it's more about the image than the colors. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch much of the wedding, just the bits that were rerun. Maybe the nuns were reletives of either Kate or Will or even Princess Di?
As for the hats, have you seen the ones some women wear for the Kentucky Derby? (Horse racing's big evevt of the year.) Oh My Gosh... they get bigger and more outlandish every year! They passed tacky several years ago. Well, we Americans can be a silly bunch!
Any way, I'm glad the royal couple got a good start, and you got to watch it too. Hugs, Jessica
Congrats to the winnwer, lovely card and you totally crack me up!
ReplyDeleteVery cute card!
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your questions, I don't know any of the answers actually. I didn't see the actual wedding, but I've checked out some pictures. I don't understand the hats on the foreheads at all, I thought they went on top of the head, but then again when you wear something like some of them, you don't have a lot of choices, it has to be balanced I think.
