Here's a card made with an image from the Just Because Cards cartridge. These papers are so summery, I love them. They were tucked away at the back of a shelf in Tuesday Morning (love that store, it's like going to a jumble sale!). I cut out one of the limes from the paper to add to the lemon die cut at the edge of the glass, the whole thing is covered with glossy accents. I cut a few more fruits out as accents, and the sentiment is a Studio G dollar stamp. The border was punched three times, twice in lemon and once in lime, and layered together.
Here's a peek at a card I made for Scrappy Go Lucky, click to see the full card - made with the Just Because cartridge, and some glitter pens
I went to Staples yesterday for some copy paper. At the checkout (the store was empty) the salesperson pricked up her ears when I spoke
"Where y'all from?"
"I'm from the UK" I replied.
"Oh" she said, losing interest " I thought you were from overseas"
It reminded me of a bizarre conversation I had last time I was here, in Dunkin Donuts (a lot of surreal conversations can be traced back to that place). I was asked by two cops sitting at the next table where I was from. "the UK". The conversation then meandered in a strange fashion around the assassination of the last Tsar of Russia, this one cop seemed to know an awful lot about it, the other cop and I listened in fascination as he gave us his theories on the matter. This went on for about 15 minutes.
"Well, gotta go" he eventually said "nice talking to you - never met anybody from the Ukraine before"
What a gorgeous card Enfys,i love your colours.

I never find anything good scrapping wise at my TM! Cute papers and cute card! I saw a little cartoon yesterday that said ~ "When life gives you lemons...ask for tequila and salt!" lol Thought that was cute!
ReplyDeleteAs always your cards a treat to see, En. Love them both.
ReplyDeleteYou do meet some "interesting" people when you go out! How do you manage not to fall down laughing? hugs, eileen
Very cute card! Love the glass :)
ReplyDeleteEn love the retro feel of this and perfect colors. Hugs
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Enfys, I just got that cart and am having fun creating with it. Florida is a bit different, you would think with as many people from the UK that are in FL that the cashier & officer would have know where in the world the UK is.
ReplyDeleteEnfys-I am sitting in my office, which was very still and quiet, laughing my booty off!!! OMG-I promise not all Southerns are so, so, so....well, you know. Great cards as always!
ReplyDeleteOh Enfys! I truly don't know which I like better, your cards or your stories!!!!!! I am still shaking my head at "the Ukraine". lol

ReplyDeleteOh Enfys you made my day with those comments. I think maybe you
ReplyDeleteought to tell people that you're from England instead. I am embarassed that people don't know what UK stands for. I guess they just don't travel outside their own
backyard.
Hugs,
Maryellen
Oops, I think most cops dont listen to what you say, and I know most men dont anyway, so you are now a Russian oh well such is life.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, love the idea of Life giving you lemons I know if does me.
With love and hugs Shirleyxxxxx
I love that paper, I am going to have to be on the look out for some lemonade paper...
ReplyDeleteI liked the lemonade card. And was thinking how life had handed me a couple of lemons lately, and this is just what I needed to see. Then I read the end of your post...and Laughed and laughed and laughed! I thought everyone knew what the UK stood for... I'm still chuckling! I love your posts, and come here everyday... you always make me smile, if not outright laugh! So, it turns out this is exactly what I needed to see! The friend I just lost would have loved it too! I have the cartridge and all I could find was paper tht had huge lemons and limes on it. I am going to see if I can order some. I sure wish we had stores in our small town. I love, love, love this card. Keep up the great job and I love the cop story. Can't wait to get my stamps.

Love both of your cards! Love the story, too. Sometimes you just have to wonder where some people went to school!! :)
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness Enfys, sounds like you have run into some doosies! I hope you know not all of us Americans are this clueless! How embarassing!
ReplyDeleteLove that card! You never know what kinds of great things you will find in Tuesday Mornings. A couple weeks ago my friend found some amazing deals on Grunge board sets. She was kind enough to pick some up for me.
LOVE this card! Super cute!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat lemon card, can't say I have ever heard that saying before and your truck card over at scrappy go lucky was a brilliant idea for a get well card. I can't believe the americans don't know what the UK stands for lol perhaps as they say I'm from FL for Florida so their brains are working overtime trying to work out what state UK is lol.
