AGE - is only a number....

I do like embossed cards - there is something about them that looks so clever.....

I embossed the base card, then cut out a label shape using a Sissix die and ran that through the same embossing folder, with a bit of careful lining up, I was able to pop the label on to exactly match with the embossing on the base. The AGE letters were cut with the Cricut, and the sentiment was computer generated

Mind you, the sentiment very much depends on exactly what the numbers are. The bigger the number, the more likely it is that bits are going to wear out! At the moment, I am radioactive - apparently I have an overactive thyroid, so had to go to a lead lined room, to swallow a radioiodine tablet from a lead container which makes human contact for the next month a bit dodgy for anyone who is a short  distance from the invisible force-field that apparently surrounds me at the moment. Various ribald comments from my totally disrespectful kids of course 'can you come to stay Mum, we could hook you up and save a fortune on electricity' and 'don't bother to buy new batteries for the torch Dad, you can use Mum as a searchlight when she glows in the dark'

The worst thing about this inconvenience (and it is just that, I don't feel ill in the slightest) is that I won't be able to see the grandchildren for a few weeks. Last week there was great family excitement, Milo submitted a drawing of 'Super Ed' (his daddy) into a competition run by Cadbury and he won first prize. Here he is with the drawing, and surrounded by the mountain of chocolate he won. Well done Milo (it was compensation for him coming last in the sports day race at school, we can't be brilliant at everything can we!)

Thank goodness I have you all to chat to - I may be a bit short of friends to chat to this month....
See you tomorrow x

  1. I love the card Enfys. I think the saying is pretty true. Age is only a number. Congratulation to Milo on his winning. Looks like he has enough chocolate to last him for awhile. I had some test done that I had to stay away from the little ones but it wasn't for my thyroid though. Maybe my heart.....memory is going I think!! ;)

  3. Lovely card Enfys - love the embossing and the red/white scheme.
Congrats to Milo, didn't he do well with his lovely drawing and look at all that chocolate...Wow.
The family teasing went on with us too - I'm afraid my sister & I made all the same sort of comments when my Dad had some radioactive treatment. At least this should give you a bit more time for your crafting.

  4. Love the card Enfys. You did an amazing job of lining up the two embossed pieces and keeping it all centered. A perfect card for anyone's birthday. Congrats again to Milo. Your Super Hero Dad (Super Ed) looks spectacular and well deserving of that amazing Chocolate Grand Prize ... I bet it is delicious!

WOW ... a radioactive invisible force-field, how awesome is that? I always knew you had a glowing personality. (Sorry, I couldn't resist) They really put you though a lot for an over active thyroid, don't they? I can't imagine going through all that. I have a severely under active thyroid. My tests consisted of having some jelly-like substance put on my neck so they could do an ultra sound on my thyroid (checking for cancer - luckily, the tests came back clean) ... and blood tests too. Now I take daily medication for it. Glad to hear that despite all you've had to go through for testing, you are feeling well.

  9. Your card is awesome - great job on the "line up"! How awesome for Milo to win (grandma genes)! As for you, the inconvenience will be short-lived, appropriate actions will be taken and then we can get back to our regularly scheduled laughter that flows so well through your posts! Praying for you...

  13. I think Milo is much happier with his mountain of chocolate than a sports day win LOL Hope they have zapped you fit again. Ahh, but what a wonderful excuse to lock yourself away in the craft room. Hugz

  14. Fab card - hope the tests turn out alright, I had a radioactive bone scan once but was only 'dangerous' to be near for about 48 hours afterwards. Fab drawing by Milo and what a great prize!!!

  16. Enfys, sorry to hear about this. At least when sales people come you can chase them off by telling them this. I can never get rid of them. I once knew someone with an overactive thyroid and they had to simply take tablets. Hope things turn out well for you. x
