As promised, some photos taken at the NEC Hobbycraft show - although to be honest, it was so crowded that I didn't get close enough to the samples to take many photos. It's a retail show, so differs greatly from the trade shows, where the booths are gorgeous, this show is all about selling, but I snapped what I could to show you. I loved this paper sculpture as you went into the hall, to commemorate the centenary of WW1.....
Of course I spent time with my best craft buddy Kath, who was working her magic over on the Fiskars stand....
these next samples were on the Clarity Stamps stand....
and a lot of you asked to see what I bought. I went with a list, and was pretty determined to stick to it. I didn't put more stencils on the list, but, oops, these fell into my basket.....
and yet another trimmer. That takes my collection up to ten! But I do love this one, it doesn't take up a huge amount of space on my desk, and has that really useful wire guide so that you can see exactly where you are cutting, and of course the new Fiskars scissors are excellent too....
These were all on my list, lots of 'basics' and some of the mini distress ink pads that I hadn't got...
and some of those really cute tins to store them in....
just a couple of stamps.....
and I strayed from the path again and got these MFI dies, blueprints 11...
and the stitched horizontal rectangles...
Now for the news, not earth shattering exciting news I'm afraid, it's a bit of a bummer really. Regular readers will remember me waffling on a couple of weeks ago about having my eye test and being as blind as a bat for a couple of days after some drops. Well, it turns out I have cataracts. What? When did that happen? Isn't that what old people get? Oh wait.....
My mother had them, and my sister, so apparently it was almost inevitable. Now the only reason I am telling you this is that I am having my first eye operated on tomorrow (Monday), and the second one two weeks later so I really don't know how much crafting I am going to be able to do during November. However, I have been a busy little bee and made quite a few cards and a couple of videos to share with you, so I'll be able to post them and no doubt there will be some funny experiences to share along the way as well - I can't imagine that there won't be some aspect of not being able to wash my hair or wear make up for a week that won't strike me as amusing. I just hope George Clooney doesn't decide to drop in for tea next week....
So I'll post a video for tomorrow, then I'll be back as soon as I can - I'll see you then with my new eye! x
Best of luck for the op - I hope it all goes well.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs (I have had both my eyes done too)
Enfys, your in my prayers. Know everything will be ok.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts and prayer for a fast recovery!!
Love your new goodies Enfys. Wishing you well for your op tomorrow and hoping you'll be able to craft pretty soon. Love Sue x
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the cataract surgery! I had one done at 57 and my vision was great until 7 years later my retina detached from the rear of the eye! M back to cobwebs floating around in that eye.
ReplyDeleteI sort of home George Clooney DOES drop in, it would certainly take your mind off not being able to see properly to craft. And there's always dry shampoo!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Enfy with your eye op and wow fabulous stash you have bought
ReplyDeleteHugs Dianne xx :)
Great stash haul Enfys - glad you were able to catch up with Kath.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best for tomorrow. I'm sure you'll have a speedy recovery.

Gorgeous haul & hopefully you'll get some time to play with it all. Best of luck with the eyes :)
ReplyDeleteHiya Enfys,
ReplyDeleteI thought that display was beautiful too, I went to the nec on Thursday and thankfully as im disabled I was allowed in just before the main rush so I was able to get what I wanted. There again, I did miss out on saying hello to Dean from C&C and the LOTV stand.
I love all of what youve brought and I hope that you are able to do some more crafting after your recovery period. My warmest wishes for a fab operation on both eyes and for a speedy recovery.

Hi, Enfys,
ReplyDeleteI hope that everything goes well with our surgery. My moher-in-law did it some time ago and it it an easy one, and now she sees very well.
Hugs,
Guida
Enfys, thanx so much for sharing all these fabulous images of the NEC Hobbycraft Show ... and also for showing us the special treasures you found as well.
ReplyDeleteVision is so important, so whatever it takes to maintain and/or improve it is well worth the effort. I know that cataract surgery is a common procedure, so there is little to worry about. But even so, our eyesight is so precious, that I wanted to send you warm thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and rapid recovery. Just think how amazing your vision will be when this is over. =)
(((HUGZ)))
I wish you the best of luck tomorrow. Lots of hope and prayers for a complete and speedy recovery! Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the pics from the show. The paper sculpture of WW1 was amazing, I can't even imagine how you begin to create something like that! Love the samples you were able to photograph and you hauled in the goods! Can't wait to see what you create with them!
ReplyDeleteYou will be amazed at how well you with your eye surgery. I had one done almost a 9 months ago, I have genetic cataracts which means once you get them, they grow very rapidly. I was amazed at how well it went, there was no pain or discomfort and I was shocked how well I could see. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!
Hello Enfys, just wanted to wish you all the best for you op. I hope all goes well. Sending you hugs, Sharon x
ReplyDeleteWill be thinking of you over the next couple of weeks. Hope all goes well and you'll soon be able to see much better than before - hugs.
ReplyDeleteEnffys, good luck tomorrow. When you are able, please post your experience with this kind of operation. I have to have cataract removed also and I am scared silly. Tell us if your vision improved.

ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Enfys, I've had both my eyes done in the last 3 months - no problems except continuous eye drops!!! LOL! I could see better the day after the surgeries so don't worry! Everything will be fine (now I can see these darn 'floaters' ever so much better).
ReplyDeleteI'm sending prayers for a successful outcome for your surgery.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with your surgery, my husband never saw as well as he did after having his cataracts removed. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

Praying that all goes well with your eye surgery. If you'd really like to see what they are going to do, check out Youtube. It's truly fascinating. I've had both mine done and the best thing is there was no pain.
ReplyDeleteHugs being sent your way. CyndiU

ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you tomorrow Enfys and hope all goes well. Just send George over to me if he turns up, I'll take care of him! Pat x
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the things from the craft fair. Always some nice goodies that end up in the basket, eh?
ReplyDeleteYou'll do great with the surgeries. My Mom and sis in law both had theirs done and did wonderfully. In fact 2 yrs later and my Mom, almost 90 now had better vision than ever. Her biggest surprise was that she had been seeing colors different before the surgery. Wonder if you'll feel that way.
Will have you in my thoughts and prayers.
