Christmas Wreath

No apologies for another Christmas card today, I know it's early, but I need to get organized - I am hoping to avoid the headless chicken dance this year. For this one, I used a scallop card base, and the Grapevine wreath from Memory box. This was cut three times from kraft paper, and stacked so that the wreath was nice and full.....

The holly leaves were punched with a Martha Stewart punch, and the tiny red berries are the 'waste' from a cropodile. I coated the leaves and berries with glossy accents

When I am over here in the States I seem to watch a lot of rubbish TV - we don't subscribe to cable at home so it's a bit of a novelty. One programme I am addicted to is 'Say Yes to the Dress'. Hours and hours of watching women trying on wedding dresses. Quite why I find it so fascinating I don't know - I am a couch potato fashion expert - 'nooooo' I wail at the TV 'don't buy that one, not with those hips'. One thing I have discovered, they keep saying every bride is beautiful. I am an expert because of my addiction to this programme, and take it from me, some are far from beautiful, they may not even make it to the passable mark, especially since they ignore my advice and buy the frilly dress.....and why do middle aged (I am being charitable here, certainly mature would be apt) women renewing their vows, or getting married for the second/third or fourth time insist on getting decked out in a gown of virginal white that would look better on a sixteen year old cheerleader? It's all a mystery to me

See you tomorrow

  4. Love kraft and this reminds me of the American folk art style, lovely. We are just home from a holiday in New England and hardly bothered with TV. They have so many adverts that it makes watching anything almost unbearable. That programme sounds funny though.

  8. Lovely card! I just love the tiny dies out these days. Keep up the Christmas cards. Maybe it'll make me start on mine! Probably not....
As to why older women try to dress like 16 yr olds...in all white. I guess they want to be younger. But I often agree with you about the way even young women dress these days. Do they ever look in the mirror before they go out?
I've been to the alter 3 times. And don't have any plans to do it again. If Don and I decide to do it some day...it'll be on the beach, at sunset and in shorts and flip flops. But I doubt we'll bother. we've been together 11 years, so why mess with success.
    Big hugs, Jess

  15. Beautiful card! Great idea to cut multiple wreaths like that.
There is a lot of mindless tv on isn't there? The other day I didn't have anything to watch and I ended up watching "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" OMG! I watched the entire season on demand. What a crazy bunch of people! But it made me laugh and I didn't have to think. Guess that's the point.

  16. Your wreath card is wonderful as all your cards are!! But I want to talk about your TV watching! I have only watched "say yes to the dress" a number of times, and while they sometimes chose bad dresses for their figures...I have never watched an episode where some matronly women renewing their vows were buying new white bride dresses for the occasion!! That is hilarious. I obviously haven't watched in quite a while...might have to tune back in for pure entertainment!!

  17. Oh my, there really is such a show? Although given the state of TV why does that surprise me? Your card is great, can't say the same of your TV watching, lol

  18. Oh My ... another delightful card Enfys. I really like this and it will be such a lovely Christmas card for someone.

OMG ... Enfys, I cannot believe what you said about "Say Yes to the Dress". I thought I was the only silly goose watching that program with an insane facination.

Why do I do that? I am in no need of a wedding dress (my DH would not like that at all *wink*). And worst of all, I am such a sentimental idiot, that I am often filled with tears as I watch ... in part because of the horrid things that the bride's family and friends say (their shocking words often are so hurtful) ... and part at the sad/happy stories (cancer/health issues, men at war, weight struggles, etc.) ... and part at the sheer joy I see in the eyes of the bride when she finally finds the perfect dresss. And of course, silly me cries when I see others crying ... and let's face it, between the brides, Moms, Dads friends, and even employees, there is plenty of that!

And yes ... I too am shaking my head in utter amazement at what in the world some brides are thinking as they select their dresses. I realize we all have different styles, but OMG, arent' they looking in the mirror? Don't they know that that dress is going to split wide open if they bend over or wiggle too much, or even breathe? Don't they realize that when they lift their arms their rather ample chest is going to spring out of that way too low and revealing top? Don't they know that they look like a beached whale as they attempt to waddle in their much too snug mermaid attire? I mean, SERIOUSLY?

Oh Well ... to each their own I guess!

  19. Love this card! The wreath is a fab die. The show sounds addictive - I would be yelling at the telly too! Mind you, people probably think I shouldn't wear what I do sometimes too! No frills though! xx

  20. Enfys,

Love your card, like how you did the wreath and the addition of the glossy accents. I enjoyed your commentary about the dresses and the brides and I totally agree!

  21. Re: Say Yes to the Dress, you are right on target. White, to me, is for the first time bride, not the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. And you are, also right not all brides are beautiful, but on their wedding day, they feel "beautiful".
