I seemed to be wearing something that sent all the buzzy warning things crazy, so I was patted up and down very thoroughly about five times. I am all for security, but it does seem ridiculous to have two women standing side by side, one of them asked all sorts of questions, along the usual lines of 'did you pack this bag yourself' etc. She then put a little sticker on my boarding card, and directed me to the next person, who patted me down again and asked me exactly the same questions - they were standing right next to each other. By this time I was tired and cross, so was quite grumpy with them, well very grumpy actually, I don't think they liked me much
Then the Frankfurt plane was late, and we had to get on another bendy bus for miles, but the plane they were taking us to wasn't there either - they had to divert to Ireland for a sick passenger. So we all sat on the bendy bus for an hour, before it drove off and went careering around looking for a plane we could get on to........................... so of course, when we got to Houston after another long 11 hour flight, all the connnecting flights had long gone, so here I am, tired out, writing this from a hotel room. My next flight takes off at 7 in the morning, I do hope there are no unscheduled dramas with this one..... I'll be dumping my stuff in the apartment and going straight to CHA
Talk to you tomorrow
It's never a dull moment for you is it! Hope that all goes well from Houston to LA. Enjoy CHA

ReplyDeleteAh, sorry to hear about your travels. Nothing ever goes right when I travel either. Mind you, excessive travel makes me swell up like a balloon and I can't even eat. For some reason I end up looking like a blow fish.
ReplyDeleteSorry you have started out with such a rough go. I'm sure all the goodies at CHA will make up for it though! ~Diane
ReplyDeleteI started shaking when you said Newark. That is the.. well lets say not the nicest place to go. Glad you are safe so far. I hope today in the Good Old USA is much better for you. Have fun!

It is so sad that because of some very disturbed mentally people (terrorist) that the lives of us that have no intentions of such ideas have to suffer. Hope the rest of you trip is more enjoyable and can't wait to hear more.
ReplyDeleteThis is why i don't like to fly! I pretty much make my hubby drive me everywhere. LOL. I hope you have a good trip the rest of the way and have a blast at CHA! Looking forward to hearing your about the rest of your trip. God bless, Pamela
ReplyDeleteOh my - that is just not rigth. Hope you get (got) some rest and enjoy the show!
ReplyDeleteMarcie
Holy cow En! I'm sorry it took you so long to get over here. But at least you got close to LA! It's probably good that you got to Houston. Some folks are stuck in DC, awaiting their flights. Did the airline co. have to pay for your hotel? I guess the whole east coast from NC up is under a blanket of white stuff! My MIL has about 15 inches in Boston MA. I hope you get to CHA today!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jess
Enfys, I read your story to my Mom this morning..actually right after the News was talking about canx flights in the NE, and I said I wonder how my friend Enfys' trip is going. After I read your story, my Mom, who has been doing research on Ancestry.com, said it used to take 6 months to get from the UK to California. Three of them on a rocking rolling boat and 3 or more in a covered wagon...so I guess that is her way of looking on the bright side....
ReplyDeleteOh my you sure do have interesting stories. Hope you made it okay by now. Diane said she was waiting for you.
ReplyDeleteMary Ann
Poor Enfys! But there is NO snow in Houston or LA! So you should have a easier time of it from Texas! Have a great week...can't wait to hear all the good stuff you will bring us!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I have some of those tales to tell too, but only 1 at a time or 1 per flight.... your sounds like a nightmare that doesn't end! Have fun at CHA
ReplyDeleteWow, I think I'm giving you an award for patience beyond what is called for .. wow. Glad you made it.

Ah yes, the luxury of flying! One of my last trips had multiple stay overs because I wanted to see and visit different people. Each leg was three days and each time they lost luggage having it arrive to me the day I was leaving for my next leg! Carry on now! Enjoy your trip - you deserve it!

Oh, Enfys, I was hoping your plane wasn't coming through NY! They had a lot of snow and all airports there were closed, so i heard on the news.
ReplyDeleteHope you get a nap in before you had to CHA! Lucky you!! Have fun! Looking forward to your CHA posts!
here's hoping for a lot less drama and great updates from CHA
ReplyDeleteOh you poor thing! I can't imagine you being cross. Have a nice rest and enjoy CHA tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your travel trials. I hope CHA makes it all worthwhile!
ReplyDeleteWell now you can just have some fun at CHA! Hope the flight back is much nicer for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, Enfys, I know how you feel!!! I always seem to have a rough time travelling too; I'm so bad, my hubby gets as far away from me as possible! I can't stand airports because you're right, it seems you're always at the last gate to/from, and everything else that can go wrong does! But, we always manage to get there and back, and have a wonderful time in between!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's the bright side I always remember when I get home!!!
Glad all turned out well -- now just get back!!! LOL!
Oh dear poor you, at least you can say your trips are never uneventful lol. I hope you are enjoying CHA and meeting up with your fellow design team pals.
