I am slowly starting to do a few Christmas cards, if I leave it until the last minute, I get so bored, I really am no good at mass-producing. I have the concentration span of a mosquito. So it works well for me to just make a card here and there. This one uses the cuttlebug treetop dies, and is a variation on a card I made a couple of years ago. I did have vague ideas about doing a lot of these this year, but after faffing around with this one...........well, I don't think so. The card measures 8" x 3, the snow drifts were randomly cut by hand. The stitching was a happy accident, I didn't thread it properly so it just made the holes for a feather stitch, I really like the look and will use it again. Lots of ice diamond glitter to finish it off, the beauty of this type of card being that you can have stray glitter all over the place and it just adds to the effect. I inked the edges in ice blue, and added some snowflake brads. I made this card for this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge where they asked for a card with no stamping, now if I do a Christmas card for every challenge for the next few weeks, I may even get Christmas sewn up.
Talking of bugs, I planted some oleander shrubs a month ago and have been nuturing them ever since. When I got back from Orlando, one of them was looking a bit sick and when I went to investigate, the underside of EVERY leaf had some caterpillary things on them. Bright orange with little black bristles sticking out. I brushed them all off and sprayed them with flying insect spray, on the assumption that they would have flown someday if they had chosen somewhere else to graduate from buggy kindergarten instead of my oleander shrub. It seemed to do the trick, but this morning their brothers and sisters have hatched...............................off to Home Depot to ask a bemused sales associate what I can get to kill orange caterpillary things with black bristles.
First off...I LOVE this card...it's gorgeous...but yes Ma'am, it looks like lots of work to be mass producing!!!! So sorry your plant has a bug...I hope Home Depot can help!!!! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteThis Is stunning! I love the dimension and all the glitter! I keep looking at those cuttlebug folders thinking Do I need them? Hmmm seeing this yes I do!!!!

Hi, great card. I'm going to see if I can do a version of it. I don't have cuttlebug. I'd love to win that book. What a nice thing for you to do. JoAnn /raeder115@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteHi, I've admired your work for a long time. finally figured out how to leave a comment. This Christmas card is great. I don't have cuttlebug, but I'd like to come up with something similar. Thanks for sharing. JoAnn
ReplyDeleteThis card is simply beautiful... I LOVE the "accidental" stitching... Sure makes for an elegant design!
ReplyDeleteAside from the fact the card is simply smashing (that goes without saying) FYI Oleanders are notorious for catipillars and they sting if you try to remove by hand.
