Roaring Twenties....

I found this stamp in a drawer when I was trying to find room for new stuff, it's by Debbi Moore, and I bought it at a craft show last year, then forgot about it - isn't that terrible? So I inked it up, it took ages to colour, I didn't think she looked like the type of lady who would wear anything but very muted colours........

I used a border punch to do both front and back of the card on each side, they match up exactly and look really pretty. I started with the notch on the border punch exactly on the fold of the card, then punched across to the left as usual, then went back to the first punch and went to the right. Because you are starting in exactly the same spot on both sides, the borders match up perfectly. I must try this with a deep border punch....

I have a coffee tale today, not funny, just a rant. I was walking with my coffee in my hand towards the only free table in the sunshine, when I was almost knocked off my feet and rugby tackled by a woman who threw her handbag over my shoulder onto the table to claim it! I was quite shocked by her rudeness, and went to sit inside. Some people at the table next to this monster woman had seen what happened, and were nice enough to come inside the coffee shop to find me to tell me that they were leaving, would I like their table. So, faith in human nature restored, I sat at my nice table with two chairs, next to monster woman who was sitting there with no coffee and on a single chair. Out came the man she was with, with their coffee, and without even asking, he started to take the spare chair at my table. Oh no, I wasn't having that, 'I'm sorry, that seat is taken, I'm waiting for a friend' I lied. So he had to drink his coffee standing up, glaring balefully at me when my mythical friend failed to appear. Tough! Whatever happened to good manners?

Rant over. See you tomorrow

  1. Fabulous card Enfys - and a super tip about the punching!

I did smile at your tale, how rude indeed. But how totally cute of you to be quick enough to retain the chair for your 'friend'. Well done!

  3. I love your stories...and I think good manners left with common sense (Don't get me started...I could rant about that!). I love your card and your punch tip. I can see your girl in a fiery red outfit or a black glitter number...but hey, that's just me....lol (not literally, I wouldn't be able to pull off either of those...well, in my mind only) TFS.

  5. I really did laugh out loud at your 'rant'. People really are rude these days. I would have told the same little white lie to keep the chair.

    Gorgeous card!!

  6. What a beautiful card. I love the way she is colored and that border punch works perfectly!

I would have been more than annoyed with that rude woman. Glad you didn't let him have that extra chair. I'm sure you are like me and would have normally offered it to him, but with rudeness like that, I don't think so. Not that she alone wasn't rude enough, but on top of that him just going to take the chair without asking. They sound like they belong together!

  9. Glad you stood your ground with the chair. People like that annoy me too.
Love the image on your card. Art Deco is one of my favourite times and yet I have no stamps at all in that style. Must start looking.

  11. Oh what a great idea about the border punch! Thanks. Lovely card. Your coloring is spectacular! I think you're right about manners. I think we have the worst drivers here in SC. They all want too be first, and they don't care what they have to do to get there!
Driving has become a full contact sport. lol

  15. Hi Enfys, what a great card, I love that stamp and just love what you did with the red. Your coffee tale is great kuddos to you for keeping the chair. Mind you if I would have been there I would have tackle him with my ninja turtle moves and grab that chair and sit with you! Having asked if ok with you first!!! lol
Thanks for my morning coffee chuckle. Have a great day.

  17. Gorgeous stamp and card Enfys. Love how you colored her in too! People ar getting ruder every day. Glad to see you were smart and saved your seat for your friend. Too bad you didn't strike up a conversation with your imaginary friend in the end so he knew he was being taken, lol!

  20. Ooooh, she is a sexy lady! Beautifully colored and love what looks like red liquid pearls in her hairpiece. Gorgeous card. Thanks so much for the punching tip. Will try it today! Your story makes me wonder just how a table for a cup of coffee can be so important that you lose all common sense and act like a child. Where was her adult sense of humanity????

  22. Your coloring is outstanding. You made her look so elegant. I always encounter rude people in the parking lot. I wait and wait for a spot with my blinker on and around the corner comes a car from the other direction who pulls right into the spot I'm waiting for. Grrrr!

  23. So glad you found this lovely lady. Very pretty card. I noticed that there was a lot of horn honking and a lady at Subway almost lost it when they told her they were out of seafood salad. Must be something in the universe isn't aligned quite right.

  24. This is a beautiful card, Enfys! I love it and it has so many applications that can be changed up with it. The woman is stunning and is so in fashion now - just as the "Roaring 20's."

You know, kudos to you! I'm so tired of rude and obnoxious people! Women don't have the entire market on it, but are quite rude as are men these days. So I say, good for you, I hope you put your feet up!

    Blessings for a better day!

  25. Ahhh good for you for not letting that rude man take the seat for your "friend"! I would have done the same thing too!

Love how you colored the lady stamp and blinged her up - totally befitting her.

  26. Lovely lady. I am talking about your card not the lady (if we dare call her that)at the coffee shop. I am so glad you stood your ground about the chair.

  27. This is hysterical and why I check your blog everyday for uplifting stories like this!!! I would so have done the same thing as you did by claiming the chair at your table!!!

Your card is really pretty!! I would have had a hard time at this card. I'm going to take your advice about how to start the border punch on your card so they come out even!!!

    Thanks,
    Patty

  32. Congrats, Enfys. I would have done the same thing about the chair. People can be so rude. I was driving down the parking lot aisle one morning looking for a place to park. Another woman came whipping around the corner of the aisle as I was pulling into a space. when I got out of the car she was waiting for me and told me I took her space and that she had her blinker on and "What the "f" was I doing taking her space." "Couldn't I see her car turning the corner to get to the space". I had no idea. Sort of ruined my day. I didn't intentionally take her "space". However, I ignored her completely and went into the store. People can be so rude at times.

  33. Every day in the cafeteria I am reminded of the lack of manners we have in our society. It is frightening. I just hope that by making 5 years olds say no thank you instead of I don't want nuffin is helping down the line. Hugs to you
