This week on the Daring Cardmakers challenge blog, Miri asks the question City or Country? I think you can tell at a glance which one I favour.........
For this card I pulled out my Cricut to cut the city skyline, then went a bit crazy with the distress inks. I wanted to try and get the yellow sodium light you get in the night sky over a city. I flicked water over the background to make it look like a starry sky - those larger drops make it look as if there are two moons in the sky!
So City or Country. Which are you? For someone who grew up in a small Welsh town, in a manse perched up on a hillside, I have evolved into a city lover. I probably have a mild anxiety attack if I am more than a mile away from M & S, and given the choice of a weekend away, would dream of Florence, Barcelona, Paris...........mind you, the thought of a weekend away in one of those luxurious country house hotels, with roaring log fires, afternoon tea and comfortable beds sounds quite appealing as well (as long as I am not expected to don hiking boots to tramp for miles along a bleak moor). Paradoxically, one of my favourite breaks is in the Lake District, where one of my best friends owns a cottage. I love going there, and appreciate the beauty of the scenery. Maybe the child from that Welsh hillside has not changed so much after all.............
loving that distress ink city sky xxx
ReplyDeleteLove your city creation! You've done a great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat card Enfys, you do sound a little 'conflicted' though with your preference ;) Personally, I am more 'country' but I agree with the sentiment about hiking!!
ReplyDeleteI'd say you met the Daring Cardmakers Challenge perfectly for one who prefers City life. Love this card and your use of the City scene (originally, it was one of my favorite Cricut cuts. I also love the look of your sky ... with multiple moons, it also has a bit of a futuristic look. I can even imagine you adding as beacon of light with a Batman symbol in the center, shinning up from the city, to make a fabulous birthday card for one of your Grandsons. (Or have they outgrown "Super Heros")???
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I also prefer the City. Like you, I enjoy a day or two in the Country, with it's simple charm and beauty, as well. There is much to be said about a quiet Country life. However by day 3 or 4, I am done and ready to return to the City with it's hustle and bustle, and shopping, and entertainments, and everything else that the City has to offer. Although, I admit that the insane traffic is a nightmare (I could definitely do without that)!
Love this card! So pretty! Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteI love the country, but think I am a bit of both.
Beautiful En! I prefer somewhere in the middle. I love being able to see the stars in a dark night sky. But as I've gotten older, I need to be close enuf to grocery stores, so I don't have to drive forever to get "a few things". So I guess its the suburbs for me. But were I to make a card, I'd choose your design for sure. Hugs, Jess
ReplyDeleteI like the distressed colors on your city card. I like sightseeing in a city but prefer the country to live. I can't handle city traffic!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the inky sky with the city glow, even if it is diametrically opposed to what I did on mine this week! Great card En!
ReplyDeleteOoh your not sky is awesome! A fab city scene - I love it! xxx
