Well what a week I have had. I was just recovering nicely from my surgery, when a insect bite on my calf, which had been done some two weeks before, suddenly started causing problems, my leg swelled like a balloon and turned a nasty shade of maroon. Vast quantities of antibiotics later, and here I am again, a bit battered, a bit bruised, but able to wear a shoe again on my foot which is now a fetching shade of pink................... I thought you might all think I had been abducted by aliens/swept off my feet by George Clooney/got tired of the UK summer weather and emigrated to a remote island on the South Pacific.............
Here's the card I had just finished before the woman-eating monster bug laid me low. The boy was cut with A Child's Year. I wanted to put him against a sky background, so I made this myself................
by sponging around some nestabilities scallop ovals with a sponge and various shades of blue ink
I am really pleased with the way the sky turned out
We went to a wedding yesterday, the daughter of friends, it was lovely, the bride was beautiful, the sun shone, and I managed to get a shoe on my foot. They had a very clever artist wandering around, cutting silhouettes of the guests, he just snipped and cut, and like magic it turned into the person
Here's Mike and me............................
and here's my silhouette. Isn't it good? Love the way he did the feathers on my hat
So there we are folks, it's nice to be back.

Hi En
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant post.
Firstly sorry to hear about your swollen leg - sounds very nasty.
Secondly what a brilliant card - love how you have done the sky. Thank you for sharing how you did this.
Thirdly how fantastic you look in your wedding guest gear. The silhouette cutting artist sounds a brilliant and very different idea and it has left you with a lovely keepsake.
Can't imagine how he has managed to do all those feathers. Just brilliant.
Hope you have a better week this week.
Love Jules xx

So good to have you back Enfys I was getting worried. I have to say I react really badly like that to any stings or bites every time so really have to avoid the mozzies in summer.

ReplyDeleteWonderfull card! The sky is absolutelly perfect!
ReplyDeleteI suffered from a similar infection from an ant-bite serveral years ago. My leg looked as if I had been bitten by a snake!
Oh my gosh! This is exactly what happened to me? I'm going to the doc today to see how bad it is. I had to call him over the weekend. He called in some antibiotics, told me it was a skin infection and wanted to see me this week. So Off I got at 11:30 am.
ReplyDeleteBefore the skin infection I had an illness like I've never had before! I was dilerious for two or three days!!! But I'm on the mend. I'm glad your back Enfys, and hope you're taking care of yourself. Love the card, as I always do!
Glad to hear you've recovered from the bug bite. That sounds horrible. Although George Clooney, islands, any of those sound like a great idea - lol!
ReplyDeleteLove that sky. I've seen that before & couldn't figure it out, but you showed it perfectly.
The pic of you & Mike is terrific. You make such a lovely couple. And the silhouette is perfect too. What a neat idea.
Wow - that hat is fab! And very talented silhouette artist!
ReplyDeleteLove the hat. Must be an England thing. I haven't worn a hat for almost 35 years. But yours is beautiful. The feathers really make the hat. And the artist did a fantatic job of creating your portrait. Sorry to hear of your nasty bug bite, but glad you are doing better.Take care and our prayers are with you.
