Happy Bird-day

This little birthday card was made very quickly, and went together like a dream, no fiddling around, it all just slotted into place. The border punch is one of the new deep ones by the punchmaker of the century - Martha S. I added a panel of script paper, the branch is a Sissix die, and the bird is from a clear set by Inkadinkadoo. Lettering by making memories and american crafts. The brown bordered card was in a set I found on clearance somewhere, they are by Martha Stewart as well, totally blank apart from the border, so perfect for altering

Phew, no more Christmas card posts from me this year, all done and dusted. Does anybody else love making them, but hate writing the messages? I always try to add a personal note, but refuse to go down the route of a computer printed round robin letter. I did try it once, and tore it up, it made me sound so SMUG. Of course, I only dwell on the good things, so all of a sudden, we became Mr and Mrs Perfect, with our charming successful children and impeccably behaved and super-intelligent grandchildren. The reality being that like all families, we have highs and lows, success and disappointments, feasts and famines. So a handwritten scribble has to do, but it does get tedious scribbling the same stuff over and over, but all done now. Hurrah!

  1. Fabulous Enfys. I love the look of this card. I agree with you too, I adore Christmas cards but get so bored writing them- I always end up last minute even though I've been making them since January!!!

Have a wonderful Christmas and best of health for 2010.

    Hugs,

  4. Love your card. I haven't cared for those deep border punches, but I love the way you used it.. I may rethink that! Thanks you enabler! ha ha...
I know what you mean about those Christmas notes... "hope this finds you well, we're all doing fine.. busy, busy... blah blah, blah... " But I must admit, I always read each and every note. Sending a handmade card is a note in itself, don't you think!?!? :)

  5. That is a great card. I love how it looks and the saying is sooo cute.

I too am glad that my Christmas cards are done. i usually make them but this year just didn't have the time. I need to weed that list down a little.

I wrote a cheeky newsletter, but made my kids contribute to it so it was hopefully funny and "real".

  6. Well that turned out as cute as it can be.. I was so busy trying to get the boys quilts done that I didn't even get Christmas cards out, and I didn't even get the quilts done. Next year... I agree with you on the letters. hugs

  13. Me too, En! I try not to scribble the same thing in each card, but by the 10th or 12th card, I run out of different words! I love making them, but oh how hard it is to finish them. I breathed a sigh of relief when the last one was stamped and on it's way. And those MS punches! Aren't they fantastic!
