White Christmas for DCM

On Daring cardmakers this week, the dare is to make a white card, you were allowed a bit of colour on stamps or sentiments, but I set myself the challenge of trying to make a totally white card, and except for a bit of bronze inking to define the edges, managed to do it. The trees were cut from the Christmas Cheer cartridge at 4", 3 and 2". and all the layers were run through the cuttlebug, using the snowflakes and snow folders
I added pearls rather than 'diamonds' as they added to the white look

everything was 'popped' to separate the layers and give it a bit of dimension

and still the gorgeous handmade birthday cards keep coming, this lovely apron is from Eileen, an online friend who has become a 'real life' friend, as she lives just a few miles from one of my sons, so we have been able to meet up....

this lovely card is from Denyze (love that image Den), another blog friend who has turned from virtual into reality, she lives locally to me, so we have been on a couple of crafty shopping outings together..........

and lastly from Jules, a longtime blog friend, who recently became a teamie of mine over on Funky Hand, I love the symmetry of this card, so clever. Thank you all so much x

So the shopping frenzy is over, and believe it or not, I do not have a shopping experience to share with you, unusual I know - that is if you don't count the people in walmart at 5 a.m who had fallen out of bed and gone black friday shopping in their pyjamas. Oh and the horrible grandmother in another store who kept clipping her toddler grandson SO hard around the ear, poor little chap. When he reached over and hit her (which of course was what he was being taught to do), she gave him such a whack. I glared and glared at her, until I remembered that guns are legal here and she looked like the type of woman who probably had a big old gun hidden somewhere in her pyjamas, so I moved to another line pretty fast. Apart from that, it was all quite cheery, and quite good fun

Christmas card of the day

Another card made with scrumptious Basic Grey papers. The tree was cut from christmas cheer at 4" and shadowed in red. The little sentiment is by studio G acrylic.

Snowman Christmas Card

This is the snowman from Christmas Cheer cut at 4". He has a shocking pink scarf only because I had left over paper in that colour right there on my desk and I was feeling lazy. Hey, a snowman who is in touch with his feminine side, that's a good thing. I used the drippy goo Martha Stewart punch as I thought it looked a bit like melting snow. The sentiment is studio G (I do get my use out of those little dollar stamps) and the papers are Bo Bunny.

I have had a very unproductive time craftwise today, one of those 'stare blankly at the walls' sort of days. It doesn't help that my stuff was in such a mess, one of these days if I am brave enough I will post a picture of the post-tornado like conditions that I work in. I also have a pet cockroach, I have called him Albert. I have mentioned before that I work in the garage here in Florida (luckily we are not here for the really hot steamy months), and for a few nights now, this roach has appeared to my horror, and despite my best efforts he was too quick for me, darted under the desk and disappeared. Next night, same thing, then again..............by this time I had got over my horrors and resigned myself to having a crafty pal. 'Hi Albert' I said cheerily as he scuttled out to keep me company (aiming the spray at him as I spoke, darn it, missed again). Tonight I found him.......dead as a doornail. Am I bereft, no of course not, glad the darn thing has disappeared and won't keep popping out of my stamp drawer or somewhere when I least expect it. Just hope he hasn't left his girlfriend behind, so tomorrow a man with a spray is coming.

The subscription thing continues to confuse, thanks to all of you who 'clicked' today, keep clicking please. :)

Christmas card of the Day

My offering for today is another simple one, the stamp is by stamp n sparkle, the holly leaves were cut on blackout from Christmas Cheer at 4", then glazed with diamond glaze so they are really shiny - just like real holly leaves.

Accordian Fold Card - Scor Pal

So I gave in and bought a Scor-pal, and I love it, it makes folding so easy. I made this accordian fold card in super quick time. The coffee mugs are from Christmas Cheer, cut at 4" (they cut small because of the swirls). The papers are from a pack I found in Walmart, aren't they pretty? The first photo shows the card closed, with a 'belly band' to hold it closed. The sentiment says 'Best Friends and Coffee - the Perfect Blend' and is from a mini set by My Favourite Things.
If you don't have a scor-pal, it's still easy to do this card. Take a piece of cardstock and cut it to 4 1/4" x 11". Working from the left, score at 4", 6 1/2 , 9" and 10 1/2"
Don't fold yet. Cut three co-ordinating panels
1 1/4" x 4" (left panel)
2 1/4" x 4" (centre panel)
2 3/4" x 4" (right panel)
Glue these panels to the base card, and fold the accordian pleats (if you look at the picture of my card, you will see which way to go). Now decorate as you wish. To make a band, cut a piece of paper 7" x 1/2" (I cut two, one slightly wider)
I got it from Cropstop using my discount code they gave me for being guest designer (coupon code on the right under the cropstop logo). Super fast shipping too. They now have a message board running on their site, another place to hang out with like-minded friends, take a look.

Baby Card

Here is my offering for this week's Bitten By The Bug. Regina asked us to use one of the wreath cuts - there are three, two on joys of the season, and this one on christmas cheer. I thought it would make a pretty 'welcome baby' card. I cut the wreath at 4", added some swiss dots, buttons and a bit of sewing. The sentiments are studio G.

Coffee Mug Card for BBTB

This week, the design team were asked to use the coffee mug from Christmas Cheer. I cut it at 4" using a Bo Bunny paper, added Pebeo dimensional paint for the cream, then sprinkled it with glitter. The 'coffee talk' sentiment is a sticker

I also made this gatefold card, using the same papers (well, I had them out....), which I actually like better, but it didn't photograph so well. 'Is it coffee yet?' is a stamp by judith.

Gift Card Holder

I needed a holder to put a gift card as a birthday gift for a friend who is addicted to caramel machiatto in Starbucks. So what better pressie than a starbucks card? I made this using the criss-cross template, left the right hand flap unstuck so that the card stands up, and made a pocket slightly larger than the gift card for the inside insert. The band is held in place with velcro pop dots.

The coffee bean stamp is by Judith, and the mug is cut from Christmas Cheer at 3"
