So I wanted to use this lovely background stamp by Scrapberrys - I just love those overlapping circles......and these stamps are superb quality, they stamp beautifully, and you should take a peek at their site, the prices are amazingly low and you can get everything over there - gems, washi, papers etc at a fraction of the usual cost
My first inclination was to use a riot of bright colours with this stamp, but after I heat embossed the stamp in white onto white cardstock, and started sponging distress inks over the whole panels - I stamped it three times - the end result was quite a pleasing pastel palette...... I used a MFT die to cut up the panels.....
and then mounted the whole lot onto a black card, and prettied it up with some gemstones. Sentiment is by Clearly Besotted Stamps
I like the clean and graphic look of the finished card.
So it begins............whilst doing a bit of food shopping yesterday, feeling very comfortable and a bit Springlike in jeans and a sweater but without a coat, I saw an assortment of people who clearly think that miraculously the sea has made some huge surge towards the geographical center of England where I live, and were happily doing a spot of shopping before heading for the beach - I was tempted to ask a couple of them in strapless maxi dresses and flip flops if they charge for deck chairs at this new beach that has appeared somewhere in the area, overnight, like a mushroom.
Probably best not to ask, but it was very tempting when I shared a lift with a girl in a bikini top and shorts. Since the nearest beach is a two and a half hour drive away, they need to get a move on before the sun goes behind those clouds. I blame the EU (mind you, I blame the EU for most things), putting all these nonsensical ideas about long hot days and carefree cafe cultures into the minds of sensible UK citizens, who a few years ago would never leave home without a brolly........
See you tomorrow x
Very pretty card Enfys. I think the colors pop on the card with the black background.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. The soft colours and the black really 'pop'.

What a pretty card. The stamp leaves an interesting print, especially when it is cut apart into the little honeycomb segments. I had to chuckle over your tale of people who apparently believe sunny beaches are around the corner. As you know, that's the "norm" around here ... but then of course it is .... after all, this is Florida. Glad you are enjoying some lovely warm spring weather. Ohhhh, and BTW ... what is a "brolly"??? (a coat? an umbrella? a big burly bodyguard?)
ReplyDeleteI love to read your comments. The English people are so nice and make me laugh, just as I would make you laugh with my language. I always call my umbrella a bumbershoot or brolly and no one knows what I am talking about, My grandmother was English, came over on the boat, therefore I picked up some of the words my mom used to use. There is some royalty in the background, however, I forgot the duke's name. Doesn't matter anyway. It is warm in Trinity, Fl. and I have not been to the beach in years. I am like a vacationer when I do go. Look at that , look at this. You would think I hadn't seen water in years, and we are about an hour away from Clearwater Beach. The whole family lives up North, where I was born. Have lived down hjere for 30 years. iAnd I do not miss Chicago at all, except the kids and that hurts. I looked up Scrapberry's and registered, but could not find any prices of any kind. Love your cards and stories. TFS again and again.

LOLOL! Here too. It tickles me when I see someone in shorts and flip-flops and a jacket... in the middle of winter! Granted, winter here is not terribly cold. But it's too cold for flip-flops, let alone shorts! It takes all kinds. Love the card. I went to the website to see the stamps, but when I clicked on the images, I didn't get a price. Have they hidden them somewhere? Not to worry, probably operator error. Got a miserable headache, and no patience. Have a wonderful day, big hugs, Jess
ReplyDeleteI love the card, and especially the soft colors, then additionally using a different die to cut it up! Ingenious!
