New toy.......

So I gave in after weeks of longing, and got myself a MISTI. What is it? Go HERE to watch a video

So I decided to put it to the test to make a spotlight sort of card, where the flowers on the base are continued onto the circle, normally this would require all sorts of fancy measuring and lining up, but it was a breeze with this tool (apart from a couple of mistakes that you are not supposed to notice.....)

This was just a prototype really so I could get the hang of it, but I thought it was good enough to show you....

I just watched the video link I gave you above, would you believe they make a right hand and left hand version. I'm left handed. Guess which one I ordered? Yes, the right handed one.Sometimes it pays to do a bit of research before ordering, but I think my right hand has got quite nifty after all these years, so it's working fine for me. I also didn't know that the little magnets came as extras, so I have had to source some on Amazon. When my parents went to school parents evenings they were always told 'Enfys has so much potential, if only she could learn to listen before rushing into trouble'. I guess all these years later, they would say the same thing today!

See you tomorrow x

  1. I recently received my Misti. I have historically had kind of a love/hate relationship with stamping - but this makes it fun again.

  5. Oh, I just ordered mine on Monday, and it's coming either today or tomorrow! I can't wait to give it a try. I didn't realize they had both kinds, either, but I'm right-handed, so tend not to notice that anyway. I can't wait to see you do some amazing videos to show us how to use it properly!

  9. Hi, Enfys, Just bought the Misti, too, and love it. You can buy the magnets at Home Depot, probably Lpews, too. Probably cheaper, maybe. I didn't get the magnets yet either. What I didn't know that it comes with right or left opening. I am right handed so it works out fine for me. It has made stamping easier. I have made some mistakes, too, but the card came out just fine. Love the card you made, but didn't see the video that you said you made. My computer is so slow and not up to par. Need a new one. Another wish.

  10. Lol, amen to the learning to investigate things. I have a printer we got from HSN last week. Either I didn't listen well enuf, or they didn't explain it well enuf. (You know which one I choose to believe). Lol so back it goes today. Good thing mail order is much easier now, than it used to be. Off to watch the video. To learn all about the new toy... er... tool. Have a great day, or evening whenever you're reading this. Hugs, Jess

  11. Just saw your post, I had to order a Misti also! I don't think it asks left or right when the product comes up. Hope I get a right handed one. Love your blog and all your cards.

    Thanks,

  14. I watched several tutorials this morning on the MISTI which resulted in my ordering one! The price had me hesitating, but then after watching the videos I decided I've spent more on a product that won't be as useful! Hope this will improve my stamping considerably!

  20. I want one of these tools too! I've seen Jennifer McGuire use it and it looks like it would be such a help! Love the card you created, very nice!
I probably would have assumed the magnets came with the tool too. Thanks for the heads up on that.

  21. Looks like a fun and helpful tool!! my question is ...now where do I put just ONE more tool??

  22. The MISTI looks like a wonderful new tool. What I like most about it, is that it will work with any sized stamp. Sometimes finding the appropriately sized stamp block to use can be difficult, especially with extra large stamps. This solves that problem. I generally don't make multiples of any of my cards, but what an awesome tool to use of you do (like for invitations, announcements, etc.). As far as the left/right issue is concerned ... wouldn't this tool work equally as well, regardless of being right or left handed, merely by turning it so that the hinge is on the top, rather than either side? Or is my thinking being too simplistic? Either way, I'm glad it works well for you, as you've demonstrated with this lovely card. It looks as though the images are lined up perfectly to me.

Isn't it funny that after all these years, I never realized you were left handed? You've shown us hundreds and hundreds of projects, tutorials and videos, that have inspired and enabled us to be more creative ... and never a hint of a right/left hand issue to deal with. I love how you conquer the obstacles in your way ... and usually with an amusing tale to tell in the process. Bravo!

  23. Misti Update! I ordered mine on Monday and it arrived on Thursday, beautifully packed and in perfect condition. Great customer service by Iliana, I think. I'm looking forward to using it this afternoon. I think it will be terrific for my big background stamps that always give me a bit of trouble, as well as the multiple step stamps that never quite line up. This tool looks even better in person than on the videos.

  24. I've been seeing the Misti all over the internet and am trying not to get yet another craft supply that I'll use rarely. It's so hard though. Your card is gorgeous and makes me want it even more!

  27. This looks like a really neat tool Enfys. It would keep a person fro having to find a block all the time. Mine seem to run and hide just as I need one. I hope after a while they will come down in price a little.
    Love the Birthday card.

  28. Too funny about rushing into trouble...we never listen do we??? I have been watching tutorials about this amazing Misti tool...and it does actually look AMAZING! I just don't make enough product to justify it ...but of course what difference does that make?? I still want it badly. Maybe next year when the price goes down a bit!!
