More Emboss Resist

Here's another card made with the same stamps and the same technique that I talked about on Wednesday, but you can see what a different look you can get with different inks - See Wednesday's post HERE - you can see a stray bit of embossing powder got onto one of the petals, but I figured it didn't matter...

For this one, I used wild honey and persimon distress inks, and no pearly sheen. I also kept the flowers flat rather than curled and layered. the tiny sentiment is from a pack of tiny letter stickers that I bought in Jo-Anns and was just perfect........everything has it's moment in the sun!

So - the video thing. Well I can't tell you how obsessed I have been this week. If I had devoted this much time to some worthwhile occupation in my younger years, I would be something like a nuclear physicist by now - I could have won a Nobel prize and been feted all over the world......

But I didn't. So..............

the more I trawl YouTube, the higher my aspirations become. So I watch the likes of Jennifer McGuire and Tim Holtz in awe, forgetting that I am just an ordinary crafter bumbling around in a very messy tiny space, and with the computer skills of a three year old. I discovered that if you play copyright music on your videos, YouTube will remove it. Now for someone who has yet to learn how to trim a video, this shouldn't really have bothered me. Music? I can barely master the art of talking on these things let alone insert soothing music.

But I became fixated on this music thing, so trawled around for royalty free music for videos. Well, most of it seemed to be pounding drums type rock, classical music that would be very nice at a funeral, or hip hop - the thought of you all sitting with your coffee, watching my inept fumblings, bouncing around in your seats to a bit of hip hop does make that very attractive to me.

The other thought that has occurred, is that the more I tell you about this video saga, the more you are going to expect something along the lines of Gone with the Wind when I eventually post - boy, are you in for disappointment. But don't be sad, if I get it right, the video might be rubbish, but at least you can jig around while you watch......

See you tomorrow x

  4. Enough with the 'inner critic' talk! Jennifer McGuire and Tim Holtz both had to start at '0' too. You're comparing your beginning with their middle! That's not fair to yourself. The fact that you are moving forward by doing videos is brave. Remember that! We'll be happy with your video premiere and we applaud you stepping outside of your comfort zone. :)

  5. Another nice card. You may never get a nobel prize from the people that hand them out but trust me, they can't come up with a prize fitting your talents. Looking forward to your upcoming video. Thanks too for keeping me smiling while reading your blog. So fun!

  8. This color background really has a whole different impact, doesn't it? Same stamp, but such a different look, especially without the glimmer spray to it.

I am so anxious for the release of your "Gone With The Wind" video, I can hardly contain myself! *wink* However, if you add Hip Hop or RAP type music, I shall never forgive you! I have no desire to watch a crafting video, regardless of how amazing it might be, while listening to someone shout about how much they like big "rumps" ... or any other big body parts.

Well, OK, since you find the thought of your viewers bouncing around to such music so amusing, go ahead with it. I can deal ... after all, I do have a mute button. (grin) (pssst, the above post was deleted by accident, Sorry)

  9. Lovely card Enfys, such pretty colours. I'm sure your video will be great once it's finished and if we're all jigging around it will save a trip to the gym! Pat x

  10. Looking forward to your video, but don't worry I am not placing any of those high expectations on you. I will enjoy whatever you put together ... don't be so hard on yourself! Another beautiful card, thank you!

  11. Beautiful card. You do a wonderful job of describing your techniques and how to on your blog, but I do understand obsessions!
You can get Garage Band for your iPad and create your own music. It's fun to play with and fairly easy to create basic pieces. I'm sure the grandkids would love to help!

  15. Those flowers do look different. Love the colour but I have to confess I like your 'satin' flowers better.
I'm sure you'll do just fine with your videos. You just have to accept there's a learning curve (said the lady who wants every one of her cards to be a piece of art haha).
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  23. Great colours on the cards. Now look, if you have the computer skills of a three year old then that makes you a nuclear physicist. I've seen those three year olds sweeping the screen, or whatever it is you do. Hey, I bought a new phone the other day. It makes phone calls. Now that's what I call a phone. On the video front, I actually prefer videos without music. It often makes it difficult to hear what the star is saying and one mans Beethoven is another mans garage punk bop. Am looking forward to seeing and hearing this masterpiece. Hugs

You are so brave venturing into the world of video. I love the updates on your progress - they make me chuckle. If it was me, the camera would still be in the box...on the shelf in the shop...because I wouldn't be brave enough to give it a go.

  25. Ha, ha! Your video saga tale really did make me smile and I too had the vision of crafters sitting at their computers watching You Tube whilst bouncing on their chairs! I'm sure whatever you do, it will be well appreciated by us fellow crafters who are bumbling along beside you!
Love your pretty CAS card with those lovely stamped flowers - I need to extend my DI range to include a few brighter colours! Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Lisa x
