Background Stamps.....

I've been joining in with another class called Stretch Your Stamps from
Online Card Classes - if you have never signed up for one of these, I can't recommend them highly enough, you get such a load of inspiration, look at old techniques in a totally different way and learn some new ones too. You get lifetime access, I have bought quite a few now and when I am hitting a 'dry patch with no inspiration I go back and watch a couple of videos and it gets me going again.

The first couple of days were all about using background stamps, here's what I came up with, although one of the downsides of doing the class is that you want all the products that they use, and I am making do with what I already own and I seem to have rather a big gap in my background stamps. Ker ching - that's the sound of my purse opening.....

I'm not at all sure about this first one - I love the honeycomb background stamp but it really is quite small, about 3" x 3" and I only made the one little piece - white embossed onto watercolour paper and coloured with Letraset Aquamarkers

I mounted it onto a black card and felt it needed something, so I white embossed the stamp again randomly onto the black, and used tiny strips of card from my next card to 'frame it'. I cut the sentiments with my Silhouette

I do, however, love this next one, same technique and this card really works for me.....

I had done a third piece using the same chevron stamp, but different colours (stamp by Heidi Swapp) and just couldn't make up my mind what to do with it, so I die cut the panel into flowers and double stamped a flourish stamp. The sentiment is another Silhouette word, coloured with ProMarkers to match the card and clear embossed (I repeated the process twice to give it a good coating)

So that's my first couple of days 'homework'. What do you think? Off to play with some sentiments and alphabet stamps now......

See you tomorrow when I'm in a festive mood for Craftwork Cards x

  8. They are just lovely, but the chevron one wins for me too! Really great design.
And I had similar issues when I signed up for Mr. Holtz's Creative Chemistry... Every new technique required new supplies as far as I was concerned! lol. x

  17. I have been hooked on these Online Card Classes ever since I took the Clean and Simple class. I tell myself I won't be taking the next one if they are following too closely, but then I sign up at the last moment anyway. I intend to print out the PDFs so that I can more easily browse for inspiration. There's still so much to explore and try. Hopefully, I'll be able to create my first card for the current class today.
Your third card is my favourite of this batch.
