Stamping though stencils...

Here's my stencil 'homework' for today, and I can't tell you how much angst I suffered getting to this point...

Firstly, I needed some white embossing powder. I had it yesterday, I USED it yesterday, nowhere to be seen, vanished, disappeared in a puff of powder. So I thought, black will do, but the next problem was finding a sentiment to emboss. Now I don't know about you, but I tend to go for simple sentiments, you know the type of thing - happy birthday, get well soon, good luck.....and so on. These flowery sentiments just aren't me, and I particularly hate the ones that would come under an 'encouragement' heading:

Don't let your dreams pass you by.......
Live life to the full with a smile on your face......

I have a feeling that if I sent cards to my friends with instructions on how to live their lives, they would fall about laughing

So I eventually found a nice simple little sentiment and set to stamping and stencilling (I used Tim Holtz ink splatter stencil), and got into a terrible inky mess. I won't bore you with that. Let's just say that this end result was about the sixth attempt I made. (It's so irritating to have almost finished a card and then drop an inkpad on it, or accidentally put the wet stencil face down on the card, or...................well, you get the picture)

So I hope you enjoy this one. It's the result of blood, sweat and tears....(I love it, which is just as well after a wasted afternoon!)

A day off for me today, I'm off to see my sister, lunch and a good old chin wag. Perfect, I'm glad to be getting away from the inks...See you tomorrow x

  1. You did great, Enfys!! I did the same thing with this card. I will try it again, but with different stamps and stencils. I made my own and the stencil looks like a big brush stroke or spray paint. Just waiting for my stamps!!

  5. I always enjoy reading your blog over my first cup of coffee, but I do need to watch myself. I always tend to read something you've written as I've just taken a huge gulp of coffee. Yep you guessed it, I'm waiting for the day I spray that mouthful all over my monitor! Thank you for the daily smile as well as a fantastic dose of creativity!

Your card is awesome, even if you struggled to get this together, the end result was fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

  11. I'm glad you persevered. I always feel it's draining all of my energy if I don't seem to be able to make things work. Kristina made it look so simple, didn't she, but I've come to realise there's nothing simple and easy about making CAS cards.

  16. Your card turned out great. I didn't really like how mine turned out either (the pink ink wouldn't come off the white embossing and I actually started fuzzing the paper with the wet wipe) but the instructors selected it as a 'go check out this card' on the last day of class. My jaw fell to the table. I rarely comment on your blog but do read all of your posts and I must say you make me giggle every time. Keep up the good work and the humor!

  18. What a lovely splash of colour - it really brightened my day yesterday but I didn't have a chance to comment so came back to do so.

  19. Oh, Enfys, you are a laugh. I don't think I would call this a wasted afternoon. Such a lovely colourful card. You do encourage in the most perfect way. Dropped ink pads, check, ink in wrong place, check, I had that just a minute ago, check. I'm not really a sentiment person and I agree that there are some pretty mushy ones out there and I never seem to have just what I need when I need it. Thanks you for brightening my day in your very special way. Hugs
