Sitting in the sunshine.....

Another Memory Box dies card today, I used the Grand Madison Window and shutters, the scallop curtains die, park bench, bare tree, grass and flower mound. All papers are by Authentique, and the flowers and foliage were cut in white and coloured with ProMarkers.

I really like this little scene, I would be quite comfortable on that bench watching the world go by, sitting in the sunshine with my book........

I hesitated before buying the curtains die, but I am so glad I got it now, the tiny edging is in perfect proportion to the window - I have used a Martha Stewart punch in the past, and the lacy edging is a bit big for the window...

I cut the bench out of kraft cardstock and distressed it a bit with vintage photo distress ink....

and the plant with little white flowers is really a bare tree die - I cut it out three times to make it look bushy, and cut off most of the tree trunk, the tiny flowers were cut with the flower mound die....

The number of people I heard moaning about the heat today, about twenty. The number of people I wanted to slap for moaning about being too hot, about twenty. I didn't of course (I was too hot to bother, and I am really a very tolerant person...). After the terrible spring we had this year, and a rotten washout of a summer last year, I would have thought everyone would be thrilled to see the sunshine, but obviously not.

My sister hates the heat, I love it. Isn't it strange that two people who share the same gene pool should be so different. Why did she get brown eyes, and me blue? Why has she got a gorgeous singing voice and I sound like a frog with a sore throat? Why do I thrive in sunshine while she retreats to the shade? Fascinating stuff genetics. I look at my grandchildren and see tiny gestures, a turn of the head, a little expression of their faces and see glimpses of my parents, their great grandparents who had died before they were born. Right, that's my random musing for today, see you tomorrow x

  1. Beautiful card, Enfys. Love those Memory Box dies - I don't have any yet, but they're on my list. I agree with the genetics thing. My brother is a clone of my father - down to the way he points at something on a page. It's really crazy how they must share 95% of the same genes.

  2. Lovely use of the dies Enfys, what a pretty scene. Just as well we are all different isn't it? My sister is literally feeling ill due to the heat and I can't get enough of it. She is the most tolerant and patient person I know and I am impatient and totally intolerant - but we love each other! Pat x

  3. What a lovely card, all those dies work so well together.
My husband has a very good reason for moaning about the heat - the amount of time he has to spend watering his veg garden every night!

  11. Beautiful card En! Love those die's. Memory box is one of my fav and want to shop at sites.
I don't have any siblings, but my 2 boys are as different as night and day. One was born with blond hair and brown eyes. The second with bright red hair, and gray eyes. And their temperaments are very, very different too. Oddly enough, though, they both walk the same way their dad did. Very interesting indeed.

  12. Your cards are so unique, soooo cute. Love the bench.
Unfortunately I am fair skinned and have to stay out of the sun as it is a major problem pretaining to my health, but the heat is much appreciated. I agree the lousy weather we have had and now the heat, such a change, but great!! At least I can sit outside in the shade and enjoy the warmth.

  13. Such a wonderful card!! I could sit right down on that bench & smell the flowers...adorable!! I'm afraid I would be one of those moaning about the heat, it's going to be in the 90s all week here in Northern Kentucky. I also hate the winter too though, so I have only a few months of weather I really like per year!! It's an age thing I think...I was never this way when I was younger!

  14. Confession time! I too am a technique hopper. I get carried away with new ideas and just have to try them. Yes I have dies that haven't been cut, stamps that haven't been stamped, clear resin that hasn't been cast and loads of other "stuff" that tempts me to try. Will it never end?

  17. Dear Enfys,

I enjoyed looking at your window card. It gave me a moment of happiness. Yesterday we lost our Yorkie-Poo of 14 yrs to heart problems of which she suffered from this past April. I miss her so much. She was alway by my side. At l:30 AM in the morning the vet called and said could not ween her off the o2. We got dressed and went to the Vet's. I held her until she was gone. I miss her so much. Even her brother,Teddy, is in a funk. He is 7.

But I wanted you to know I loved your card today. It gane me so much comfort. And I needed that so much. Thank you so much.

  18. Loved this card! I haven't tried Memory Box dies, yet, but I think I may need to find some. I haven't seen them in our local big crafts (Michaels, Moore, and Joann's) yet, so it will be an online search. They look amazing when you use them on your blog. BethAnn M.

  20. I want to sit on the bench with you and we will read to our heart's content. When going through pictures of my in laws to make a scrapbook to display for their 60th anniversary party, I found a picture of my FIL when he was about 7 ore 8. My grandson is the spitting image of his great grandfather.
