Pretty Flowers.....

Here's another Memory Box card, I used the birdcage and a new fuchsia die. It's really pretty and has nice tendrils, so it was perfect to wind around the birdcage. I cut them in white as usual, and coloured with Promarkers. I cut a bunch, and layered three blossoms onto each stem, so they are very dimensional. The background was done with a Martha round the page punch, and the shaped base card and sentiment is by Craftwork Cards

Since I last wrote, I have nearly drowned, and been eaten alive by mosquitoes!  We took our friends for a canoe trip on the river. I was in a kayak with my friend Anne. So we paddled around a bend to find three canoes abreast, and in trying to avoid them, crashed into the bank. We pushed hard with our paddles to get the boat off again, and it flipped. We were deposited unceremoniously into deep water, came up gasping and both went down again.......to join the rest of the contents of the kayak; towels, flip flops, sun cream all at the bottom. The guys in the three canoes came to help us and dived for the towels etc. So there we were, sodden, shocked and by this time hysterical, especially when a very nice man came paddling back upstream, against the current yelling that he had found a sandal - shame it wasn't one of ours! The rest of the trip was a nightmare, we had lost the bug spray, so we were attacked by mozzies as we sat there dripping and defenceless. To cap it all, one of the bites on my leg has got infected. Please remind me of this if I ever talk about going on the river again, try to persuade me to take up knitting instead........

  1. OMgosh!! What an adventure you had! The only good thing about it being winter down here is that the mozzies have gone!!

  3. Lovely, lovely card! I'm so glad that you made it back from the river, if a bit sodden and chomped on. We'd miss you like crazy! You tell the best stories... Hope that leg feels better soon,

  4. I'm terrified of water as it is, so I understand how you must have felt, as I nearly drowned as a toddler.
Reading is a nice safe hobby, so next time you feel like going anywhere near water, grab a novel instead.
Love your dramatic black and multi coloured card.

  5. Wow Enfys! You need to read Erma Bombeck's book that contains the camping quotes! The mozzies and critters never cooperate! You are safer in your craftroom. Love your card, very delicate.

  8. Frist, what a lovely card ... I do love your creations!

Second, OMGoodness ... what a completely horid experience on the river you and your friend had. Are you still in Florida? If so, then you are much braver than I, as I stay away from the rivers here. Not so much because of the skitters, although that is certainly reason enough, but for me it is a gater and snake thing. Those critters lurk everywhere!

I am so glad that the two of you survived, a bit soggy and bitten up for your trouble, yes ... but still you are alive and able to tell of the tale! I am also glad that others were close by to help lend a hand.

Whew, how scarey that must have been. Please take care Enfys! (Hope your leg heals quickly)

    Hugz,
    Carol

  12. Oh my gosh! Sounds like a horrible time! If you hadn't gone over, it would have been much better I'm sure. Nice men to stay and help y'all out. Sounds like me with the infected bit. Happens to me all the time. I think I'm allergic to everything!
Love those little dies. Next time I get some scrapping $ I'm going to get a couple of them. TFS Hugs, Jess

  14. Oh Enfys, what a mis- adventure your canoe trip turned out to be :- ( Knitting is much safer. Have you ever seen the " I Love Lucy " show? It''s from the '50's. You and Lucy seem to have a lot in common, in such adventures. In crafting, however, I'm sure you are queen. Love how you used the dies together. TFS!
